When Agent Murphy asks the Charmed Ones to help him out with a few potentially supernatural cold cases, Phoebe calls Billie after Piper bails, and Billie finds a belt that turns her into a superhero. Meanwhile, a female demon wants to kill her master, and Billie in her new form might be helpful to her.

Tropes

  • Braids of Action: Billie's costume change results in her hair being worn in braids.
  • Chekhov's Gun:
    • Zira is advised against putting the belt on, as it would kill her. Paige vanquishes her by orbing the belt around her waist.
    • Billie accidentally uses the belt to turn Leo invisible and changes him back after a few scenes. Leo later suggests Piper use a potion to do it again so that he can surprise Billie during the showdown.
  • Continuity Nod: Phoebe mentions the times she's been turned into a mermaid, genie and mummy.
  • Cynic–Idealist Duo: Paige and Henry's dynamic towards Speed. The guy is Paige's new charge, so she knows he has the chance to do a lot of good if given the chance. Speed is also Henry's parolee and screwed up one time too many, so Henry immediately thinks and expects the worst of him. Paige and Henry spend much of the episode butting heads.
  • Damsel in Distress: Exploited. Zira has her master attack an innocent to draw Billie out, emphasising that it needs to be a female.
  • Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male: Subverted. When the belt causes Billie's female classmates to attack the males, Billie says "this isn't right".
  • The Gadfly: During the stakeout, Paige says she has to pee. Henry hands her a bottle. He then looks away and proceeds to smirk because he knows how she'll react.
  • Gendercide: According to Leo, those who wear the belt ultimately become consumed with killing all men. None of them had the power to do much damage, but Leo fears that Billie already being a powerful witch will give her the needed edge.
  • The Ghost: Phoebe has a man she's seeing that she only ever talks to over the phone, and he's never shown on-screen.
  • Gilligan Cut: When Phoebe tells her sisters Agent Murphy needs their help with a few boxes of evidence connected to cold cases that seem to be of supernatural origins, Piper asks how many. As seen in the next scene, an entire warehouse of them.
  • Innocuously Important Episode: Paige meets her future husband.
  • Lampshade Hanging: Phoebe says of the costume "it'll take a spell or potion or some kind of emotional epiphany" to get it off.
  • Mars and Venus Gender Contrast: Prominent in this episode, and especially seen in the scene where Billie talks with her professor.
  • Men Are the Expendable Gender: Exploited. Zira says that Tai must attack a female innocent to properly draw Billie out.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Paige's charge, Speed.
  • Shock and Awe: The belt gives Billie this power.
  • Straw Feminist: Billie is one in this episode, visibly influenced by the class she had and by her immature classmates, and even more once she wears Hyppolita's Belt.
  • Super-Speed: The Golden Belt of Hyppolita granted Billie this power.
  • Took a Level in Badass: The belt augments Billie's magic and gives her assorted new powers.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Billie as a result of the belt and Zira's influence. She gets to the point where she'll kill anyone who she thinks crossed her.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Hippolyta, who created the belt, wanted to bring about equality to the sexes.
