Go To

CatDogula is the Halloween Episode of CatDog, airing October 26, 1999.

While CatDog is out trick-or-treating, Nearburg becomes plagued with vampire ticks. Cat dismisses this as nothing more but a fake news report, but it turns out to be real when Dog is bitten by Peruvian Vampire Ticks, as do the other citizens of Nearburg, and Cat has to race the clock to find a cure before midnight or else Dog and the townspeople will be cursed forever!

Tropes seen in this episode

  • Big "NO!": For the vampires when vampirified Lube plugs the juicing machine back in, allowing it to finish the job.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Played for laughs after Nosferacho and the vampire ticks are defeated. Nosferacho points out that even though they‘re now regular ticks, they can still suck blood anyway.
  • Fat Bastard: The leader of the vampire ticks, Nosferacho, is quite bloated, only growing moreso the more victims he drains.
Cat: Gee, I didn't know blood was so fattening!
  • Halloween Episode: Pretty self-explanatory.
  • Here We Go Again!: At the end of the episode, Cat saves Dog and the other townspeople from being vampires forever, even the ticks have been cured, but then, when Winslow shows up, he reveals he was bitten by a werewolf.
  • Missing Reflection: After Nosferacho and his ticks bite Dog, they decide not to bite Cat due to his garlic necklace and move on to a different target. Cat doesn't notice Dog is not casting a reflection on one of the headstones while passing through the cemetery. This is a warning his vampire transformation is done!
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Vampire!Lube accidentally unplugs the juicing machine by tripping over the cord, but he promptly plugs it back in, reactivating the machine to continue its job on the giant garlic bulb.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • For Cat when he accidentally pushes the giant garlic bulb above the garlic factory downstairs. It's quickly subverted, though, because the bulb landed in the long-unused juicing machine, and after reactivating it, Cat lures the vampires into the juicing vat to finally defeat them.
    • For the Vampires when transformed Lube stupidly plugs the juicing machine back in, reactivating it and making it finish the job on the giant garlic bulb.
    • For Cat and Lola when Winslow tells them he was bitten by "some kid in a really good wolf costume". Followed by a Mass "Oh, Crap!" when the clouds part and reveal the full moon...
  • Our Vampires Are Different: The antagonists of the episode, the Peruvian Vampire Ticks, led by the nefarious Nosferacho.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: At the end, Winslow got bitten by a werewolf and turns into a wolf-mouse by the full moon. Judging by the tiny size of the bite mark on his leg, it was a small werewolf (possibly another wolf-mouse).
  • Race Against the Clock / When the Clock Strikes Twelve: Cat has eight minutes before the clock strikes the twelfth chime at midnight to cure Dog and the townspeople of the Vampire Ticks' curse, or else the victims will be cursed forever! How the curse knows how many chimes have passed is not mentioned.
  • Real After All: Before CatDog leaves their house to go trick-or-treating, they see a news report about dead cattle lying bloodless with tiny puncture marks on their necks. Cat dismisses this as nothing more but a fake news report, but it turns out to be real when Dog gets bitten.
  • Shout-Out: Several Dracula references: Dog muttering the names of Dracula's actors when knocked unconscious after he, Cat and Lola reach the garlic factory (Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee and Frank Langella), plus Nosferacho's name being a pun on Nosferatu.
