Calvin's parents have a night out and call Rosalyn over to babysit Calvin. Calvin initially dreads having to deal with his arch-nemesis, but on finding out that she's hoping to use the evening to study for a big test the next day, decides that it's time for some revenge.
Tropes
- Bratty Half-Pint: Calvin is always a handful for Rosalyn whenever she shows up, but this arc features some significant escalation, as he steals her science notes that she needs for a test the next day and threatens to destroy them unless she gives him what he wants.
- Fun with Flushing: Calvin threatens to do this to Rosalyn's science notes in exchange for some unreasonable demands. Thankfully, he's just bluffing.
- I Have Your Wife: Well, science notes, but the same basic idea. Calvin locks himself in the bathroom with them and threatens to flush them down the toilet unless Rosalyn does what he wants.
- Implied Death Threat: After Rosalyn loses the footrace to the bathroom, she screams at Calvin "Open this door or your parents will never find your remains!" Hobbes lampshades this with "Boy, some babysitter!"
- Pyrrhic Victory:
- Calvin does ruin Rosalyn's plans to use the evening to study for a big exam the next day, so he does get his 'revenge'. But that revenge does nothing to benefit himself, as Rosalyn is able to turn the tables on him without giving into any of his demands, he still gets sent to bed early, and presumably gets in trouble with his parents.
- Also, as Hobbes notes, they got to stay up a half hour later than usual.
- Title Drop: After learning that Rosalyn has a big science test the next day and wants to use the evening to study for it, Calvin declares that tonight is "The revenge of the baby sat!", which would be the title for one of the book collections.
- Wallet Moths: Rosalyn's fee is so high that a moth flies out of Dad's wallet after he pays her.
- Wheel o' Feet: When Calvin snatches Rosalyn's science notes and takes off with them, his legs are shown like this to depict his great speed.
