Since she doesn't have a birthday, Cheese demands a big party every year. Once the Smiths show up as the only guests, her siblings try to help Cheese with the party, but their lack of effort nearly ruins everything.
"The Cheese Ball" provides examples of:
- Animal Motifs: The dress Girl made for Cheese kind of resembles a frog.
- Anything but That!: Once Cheese notices that she's going down the slide, she frantically begs not to go down while trying to hold on, only to swiftly fly down and scream.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: Cheese wanted her reluctant siblings to help celebrate her special day with her despite their initial protests. Thanks to the Smiths, the five of them end up agreeing to do so in an attempt to prove the twins wrong, only for the lack of preparation to come back to bite Cheese.
- Birthday Episode: This whole episode serves as one to Cheese, albeit as a special day of hers due to claiming that she doesn't have a birthday.
- Birthday Party Goes Wrong: The very instant Stevie and Susie show up at the gang's house as the sole guests, things go downhill for Cheese in her futile attempts to celebrate her special day.
- Bittersweet Ending. Even after the gang manage to retaliate against the Smiths, Dog accidentally triggers the jetpack, making Cheese fly to the slide and end up with more humiliation, with the implication that she would feel upset again from the ride.
- Break the Cutie: Everything that Cheese planned for her party going awry as well as the ensuing humiliation caused Cheese to cry back to her room.
- Crying at Your Birthday Party: Thanks to all the misfortune that happened on her Cheese Ball, Cheese cries loudly before storming back to her room.
- "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Had Cheese decided to forgo doing her annual celebration instead of continuing it, she could've avoided all the pitfalls and humiliation that ended up happening to her.
- The Dog Bites Back: Earlier in the episode, Cheese angrily shoos away a bird for "upstaging her" with its cuteness. Later, as Cheese laments, the bird comes back and when Cheese apologizes, it angrily rips her photo and tweets at her, before flying away again and pooping on her.
- Group Hug: As Cheese thanks her siblings for trying to fix things and make her happy, the six of them hug each other, with Cat even laying on Cheese while purring.
- Humiliation Conga: Cheese gets put through quite the wringer throughout the episode. If the Smiths being her only guests wasn't bad enough, she ends up screaming in disgust from the empty gift of burps from the twins. Throughout the Cheese Ball, Cheese flies uncontrollably with the jetpack that came with the dress, gets spilt with the "mystery food" by Dog on accident, has an empty box that was supposed be a pinata fall on her as she struggled, and the bird that she previously shooed away rips one of her photos and poops on her while she was lamenting. Even when her siblings got back at the Smiths for her, Cheese ended up flying down the grand slide thanks to Dog.
- I Want My Mommy!: Stevie and Susie cry out "Mommy" as they run out of the backyard from their humiliation.
- Jerkass Has a Point: After Stevie mocks how the Cheese Ball went, Girl tells him off to show some respect to Cheese on her special day. Susie then retorts that the five of them didn't either, pointing out how awful the party looks and that she and Stevie would never be that lousy to each other. As Cheese cries back to the girls' room, the others then agree with the twins that they ruined Cheese's day and decide to fix things.
- Karmic Butt-Monkey: Cheese suffers plenty of misfortune from how awry the Cheese Ball went. Considering how mean and selfish Cheese is towards her siblings, this is somewhat fitting for someone like her.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Fourfold for Cheese:
- After singing about her Cheese Ball, Cheese notices a bird standing outside her window, aweing it before angrily shooing it away for "upstaging her" and slamming the window closed. Later in the episode, as Cheese laments at her awful day while looking at her past photos, the same bird comes back to the window, angrily rejecting Cheese's apology by ripping one of the photos and tweeting at her, and poops on her. Cheese lampshades that she deserves it.
- Even as the others have legitimate points on their hesitation with the party, Cheese still makes her siblings celebrate it anyways. Cue all the misfortune that happens to Cheese throughout said party.
- In an attempt to break Dog, Cheese forced him to eat the "mystery food" if he thought it was so great. Dog being repulsed by the smell and taste caused him to accidentally spill it on Cheese, to her dismay.
- Upon realizing her sibling's intents, Cheese laughs in amusement from the Smiths' humiliation in the slide, even if they deserve it. At the end of the episode, Cheese ends up going down the slide and presumably receiving the same unfortunate experience as well.
- My God, What Have I Done?: After seeing Cheese cry from the awful day she had, her siblings felt ashamed and admit that the Smiths were right about them making the party lousy and resolved to fix things by making a super duper slide.
- Never My Fault: Cheese gets upset with her siblings with the fact that her special day got ruined, which would be understandable if not for the fact that Cheese herself disregarded her siblings explanations on their busy schedules and the hard work that comes with prepping parties and also insisted on continuing her Cheese Ball regardless of the setbacks.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Right after the Group Hug, Dog accidentally triggers the jetpack in Cheese's frog-looking dress and sends her flying to the slide.
- Rejected Apology:
- When the bird she previously shooed away comes back on the window, Cheese attempted to apologize to it and thought that at least it would celebrate with her. The bird then angrily tears apart the photo she was holding, then flies away before pooping on Cheese.
- Seconds later, Cheese's siblings come into the girls' room where Girl apologizes to Cheese for ruining her day. Cheese sarcastically and irritably "thanks" them for thinking an apology would make anything better.
- Running Away to Cry: Cheese storms back to her room in tears after realizing how awful her special day went.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Once Cheese falls down inside the slide, her siblings, especially Dog, panic and skedaddle out of the backyard.
- Tempting Fate:
- When Cheese attempts to clarify with Cat that she handed out invitations to everyone but the Smith twins, she ends up opening the door to Stevie and Susie, who end up as her only guests.
- After Cheese gets mad at Boy's "slide" actually being a simple wooden see-saw, Boy attempts to assure her that it's perfectly safe, only to get a splinter on his finger and run around screaming in pain from it.
- At the end of the episode, as Dog points out that how glad they were that the Smiths fell for their ruse, he accidentally reactivates the jetpack and causes Cheese to fly to the slide and end up receiving the very same humiliation.
- Thin-Skinned Bully: Stevie and Susie practically spend most of the episode mocking Cheese's party and laughing at her, even as her siblings angrily call them out of it. Upon witnessing the grand slide the five made, Stevie and Susie decide to try it out first due to being impressed with it, only to end up bumping through many parts of said slide with an unsettling experience. The amount of mockery they receive after getting out is enough to make Stevie and Susie run crying.
