Recap / BoBoiBoy S2 E3 "Physical Education"

Go To

Gopal recaps the previous episode; the identity of the "ghost" was found to be Fang all along, and he ran away from the fight he initiated. In space, the new owner of Adu Du's ship goes onboard to check out his new product, and finds files about Earth's cocoa energy and BoBoiBoy. In school, BoBoiBoy asks how they're all in the same class when Gopal is a year older and Ying a year younger than the rest of them. Gopal's father gave the school the incorrect birth year for his son, while Ying was smart enough to skip a grade.

Fang enters class, the rivalry sparks again, and BoBoiBoy's friends warn the two not to fight. Papa Zola enters to teach Mathematics, but Yaya tells him that it's time for Physical Education. So Papa Zola leaves to change his clothes and be their P.E. teacher. Meanwhile, Probe is disguised as a janitor and eavesdrops on their activities. The first game is an egg-and-spoon race, Papa Zola has BoBoiBoy and Fang compete against each other for dissing on the game. Via photographic evidence, the winner is... Papa Zola, although he wasn't part of the game to begin with. BoBoiBoy is fine with accepting a tie, but Fang still wants to fight, so Papa Zola suggests they do so in a fair game, which BoBoiBoy suggests to be football. The game is set to happen in a week.

Probe tells his boss about the upcoming football match, and after explaining to Adu Du what that is, they decide to defeat BoBoiBoy in it.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Dub-Induced Plot Hole: Inverted. In the original Malay, Adu Du doesn't know what (foot)ball is, despite noting that BoBoiBoy was playing ball in an earlier episode. In the English dub on YouTube, Adu Du says BoBoiBoy is "good at that round thing" in the earlier episode, and in this one, he simply doesn't know what a football match is.
  • Evil Laugh: Lampshaded, but only in the Malay audio. Adu Du laughs evilly when Probe suggests they challenge BoBoiBoy to a game of football, before asking what football is. Probe does a Face Fault and comments that Adu Du laughs for the sake of it, and Adu Du replies "Of course bad people have to laugh!"note
  • Gilligan Cut: In the flashback explaining why Gopal is in the same class with BoBoiBoy, Mr. Kumar boasts to the teacher that his memory is great and he remember any information for Gopal's entrance. The flashback immediately ends and Gopal reveals that his dad forgot about Gopal's birth year.
  • Ice-Cream Koan: After BoBoiBoy says that Fang is the one seeking trouble, Papa Zola says, "Trouble will always seek justice, but justice will never seek trouble." Cue the Chirping Crickets and confused faces. Gopal is moved by his words, despite not understanding any of it.
  • I've Heard of That — What Is It?: When Probe suggests to Adu Du that they should try to defeat BoBoiBoy in a football match, Adu Du grins and laughs evilly. Then he asks what is a football match, causing Probe to Face Fault.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: BoBoiBoy and Fang's egg-and-spoon race is set to the music usually used for a fight and is treated just like one.
  • Series Continuity Error: Adu Du doesn't know what football is despite seeing and commenting BoBoiBoy doing that sport in "Multi-Monster Mayhem!" note
  • Shrouded in Myth: The school's disciplinary teacher/vice principal, who Gopal warns against ever coming across. He's said to be a former army general, who retired to become an 8-time kickboxing champion and also swam 5 times across the Pacific. Some say he's had surgery to replace his nerves with steel. He can't even be named verbally should he appear. Papa Zola sends everyone to their seats and calls off their stories as conspiracies.
  • Speak of the Devil: Gopal describes the fearsome feats of the school's disciplinary teacher/vice principal, and BoBoiBoy asks what his name is. Everyone gasps, and after a moment of silence, Gopal says his name cannot be spoken. Amar Deep continues that he has a tendency to suddenly appear whenever his name is mentioned. Their math teacher Papa Zola appears in class and calls off the claims as myths.
