The family uses couch cushions to build a pretend neighbourhood, and Bluey discovers getting along with your neighbours isn't easy.
This episode provides examples of:
- Deadpan Snarker: When Bandit declares he'll be Chilli's pretend-neighbour, she makes it a point to flatly respond "There goes the neighbourhood".
- Furry Confusion: A literal example in-universe. While pretending to be a disruptive neighbour, Bandit starts barking like that one neighbourhood dog that's noisy. Chilli, on her part, doesn't know what Bandit's doing.
- Hard Truth Aesop: In life, you won't always get pleasant neighbors who are quiet or polite or kind. Sometimes, you may get neighbors who are rude, loud and inconsiderate.
- Misunderstood Loner: Towards the end, Bluey and Chilli are able to figure out that Bandit isn't a bad neighbour at all, he's just very lonely. They're able to fix this by giving him a zoo of animals to take care of, and he's happier for it.
