Recap / Bluey Chickenrat

Go To

It's bedtime, but Bingo can't find her stuffed bunny Floppy, having lost him while playing a game involving a "chickenrat egg" with Bluey and Bandit. Chilli helps Bingo find Floppy by retracing her steps.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Anachronic Order: The story unfolds via alternating flashbacks and exposition.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: While pretending to be a customer at a breakfast restaurant, Bandit asks Bluey (the waiter) for an egg. But not just any egg, it has to be a chickenrat egg. Bluey wonders what a chickenrat is. And (surprise, surprise) Bandit describes it's a hybrid between a rat and a chicken.
  • Gasshole: Bandit, though he burps throughout the episode rather than fart (though some airings change it to sneezing).
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Happens to Bandit twice over. First he eats sauerkraut, despite Chilli's warning that it'll make him gassy. Then in Bluey's Restaurant game, Bandit asks for a chickenrat egg, thinking this impossible request will make the children leave him alone for a bit. Instead, Bluey and Bingo decide to get their magic wand and turn Bandit himself into a chickenrat, to make him lay the egg. Then he runs and tries to hide from the kids, but his burps (from the sauerkraut) give him away.
  • Title Drop: "Chickenrat" is mentioned as part of Bluey's game of brunch.
