Big Time Break is an episode from Season 1 of Big Time Rush.
Spending time with each other has given BTR cabin fever, so when Gustavo takes the day off, they decide to spend time apart and have adventures of their own: Kendall reencounters the girl they fought over and discovers she's hiding something, James attends an audition with Camille to start his acting career, Logan tries to sneak into an all-girl school, and Carlos teams up with his dad to solve where his helmet went.
Tropes
- Bluff the Imposter: Jo hires an actor to pretend to be her boyfriend to fool Kendall into thinking she already has one. It falls apart instantly when Kendall tricks him into getting his own name wrong.
- Breather Episode: There isn't any major plot happening in this episode, as it focuses on the boys spending time apart from each other on their day off and getting in their own separate escapades.
- Broken Pedestal: Logan loses his respect for Phoebe Nachee after discovering that she is a Straw Feminist who's dismissive of the intellect of men.
- The Dog Was the Mastermind: It turns out that Lightning was the thief.
- Downer Ending: Logan's plotline. He learns that a mathematician he admires is an Academic Alpha Bitch misandrist, and then gets beaten up when he tries to stand up for his gender.
- Epic Fail: Jo's fake boyfriend blows his cover immediately when he misremembers his own name... right after Jo had just said it.
- Foreshadowing:
- Lightning appears in the security camera footage Carlos and his father view, but they immediately dismiss him because he's a dog. Turns out he was the thief all along.
- The fact that Phoebe Nachee's lecture was being held at an all-girls school was probably the first hint that she didn't care much for her male fanbase.
- Four Lines, All Waiting: The majority of the episode splits into four individual stories —one for each boy — as we get to see what they do apart from each other.
