Baymax, Hiro and Fred decided to follow GoGo because they're curious about where she goes during her personal time.

- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Invoked by Ned Ludd, who expects Baymax to eventually turn on humanity just because it's a robot.
- Bamboo Technology: The team makes low-tech versions of their gear out of found materials to fight Ned.
- Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: The Hibagon is a Japanese cryptid resembling the Bigfoot, which people keep mistaking Ned Ludd for.
- Borrowed Catchphrase: Wasabi says Baymax's usual "Oh no," since Baymax himself isn't there to do it.
- Companion Cube: Ned keeps the magnetized meteorite that disrupts technology in his home and calls it Bessie.
- Description Cut: When Hiro, Baymax and Fred get lost inside Muirahara Woods and cannot call for help, Fred hopes his butler Heatcliff to be worried and do something. The next scene shows Heatcliff relaxing at the limousine's hot tub. It becomes a Brick Joke at the end of the episode when Fred makes the same mistake again.
- Electronic Speech Impediment: This is one of the many maladies Bessie bestows on Baymax.
- Evil Luddite: The heroes run afoul of a machine-hating hermit who happens to have the same name as the Trope Namer.
- Go Mad from the Isolation: Ned seems to have gone a little crazy from the lack of human contact.
- Hidden Depths: GoGo turns out to like watching birds much to the surprise of those who know how much of a tomboy she usually is.
- I Owe You My Life: Ned was saved from his out-of-control car when the meteorite fell near him and made the car malfunction and stop just as it was about to go off a cliff. He's been thankful for it ever since, while at the same time cursing all technology.
- Malaproper: Malfunctioning Baymax going "I can not de-de-deactivate until you say you are mortified with your hair" to a beehive of all things.
- Meaningful Name: Ned Ludd hates machines and has the same name as the machine hater the Luddites took their name from.
- [Popular Saying], But...: Wasabi grimly states upon concluding that a bear is about to attack from a nearby bush that this is how the team is going to die... "Not with a bang but with a Bear".
- Shout-Out: Fred invites everyone to see Captain Fancy: Dawn of Fanciness, a title shout out to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
- Ungrateful Bastard: Even after Baymax fixes his arm, Ned still thinks that he's going to turn on humanity.
