Following the team's failed attempt to destroy the Highbreed portal, they have to travel to the Highbreed High Command and try to convince them to end the invasion.

Tropes found in this episode:

  • Alien Invasion: The Highbreed invasion of Earth is at full swing here and, interestingly enough, the only way the heroes can stop this massive invasion is to convince the leaders to end it themselves.
  • And the Adventure Continues: Ben has saved the Highbreed from extinction, but to do so, it's randomized the Omnitrix with all new aliens he's not familiar with. Nonetheless, with optimism, Ben decides that's never stopped him before, and decides to give his new aliens a test-run.
  • Call-Back: After seeing the aliens displayed in the Omnitrix, Ben remarks "I don't recognize any of these guys," the same line he used in the series premiere.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Not just one. A lot of details that have been set up throughout the show end up paying off here.
    • In Pet Project, Ship gained the ability to transform into an actual spaceship. Here, they use it to travel through the portal to the Highbreed homeworld.
    • Kevin has been collecting parts and repairing his car throughout the previous two seasons. Here, he shows he had modified it to be combat-ready. It does get destroyed, though.
    • When it's revealed that the Highbreed are going to become extinct due to their genetic damage caused by inbreeding, Ben uses the Omnitrix repair function to repair the genetic damage, just as he repaired the genetic damage of humans turned into DNAliens. However, they are not happy about being "impure" and decide the best course of action is to commit mass suicide. But then...
    • Serving in this episode as a Chekhov's Gunman, Reiny has had enough time to realize that his race's agenda is flawed and that this "genetic impureness" is the path forward. The Highbreed council agrees with him and proclaims Reiny as the new Highbreed Supreme, ending the war.
    • Back in "What Are Little Girls Made Of?", Verdona wanted to destroy Gwen's human form so she could unlock her true Anodite form and learn how to control her powers. In this episode, Gwen transforms into an Anodite for the first time, and nearly becomes Drunk with Power, wanting to use her newfound abilities to destroy the Highbreed even if it means losing herself in the process. It takes Kevin outright begging for her not to go through with it.
  • Drunk with Power: Barely subverted. Gwen assumes her Anodite form for the first time here, and insists on trying to use her abilities to end the Highbreed invasion for good at the cost of her sanity. It takes Kevin reminding her of what she'll lose, and promising that Ben will find another way to snap her out of it.
  • FTL Travel Sickness: In order to reach the Highbreed homeworld, Ben's team travel through an interstellar jump-gate that converts users into faster-than-light tachyons and transmits them to the other side. Ben (as Brainstorm) promptly throws up at the end of the journey.
  • Heel–Face Turn: The Highbreed are saved from dying out and are convinced by Reiny to live in peace with the universe, ending the war.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: A variety. The Highbreed act as though their "superiority" is reason enough to wipe out other civilizations. But Azmuth can see right through them. In reality, their inbreeding has lead to sterility and the inability to fight disease, and they're taking out other civilizations as a way to bitterly spite them.
  • Loss of Identity: Discussed when Gwen transforms into her Anodite form. She says that she can destroy the entire Highbreed Invasion all by herself and end the war right there and there, but at the cost of losing her humanity, which is brought up by Kevin, who talks her out of doing it.
  • Sequel Hook: Darkstar has escaped and the heroes are going to look for him, Max has a whole new young team to train and Ben has unlocked new transformations.
  • Series Continuity Error: Back in What Are Little Girls Mad Of?, Verdona said it would take 60 or 70 years for Gwen to master her full powers as an Anodite. When Gwen tries using said powers in this episode, Kevin claims she said it would take 75 years, though it could be possible that he's just misremembering.
  • Series Fauxnale: Given that it wraps up the main Story Arc of Alien Force, ends on a Bookend to the first episode, and brings everyone's character arcs full circle (especially Ben), this episode could have easily passed as the Grand Finale of Ben's adventures. Needless to say, however, his story continued well past this.
  • Spanner in the Works: Reiny acts as this, as his return to the Highbreed planet marks when he convinces them that the loss of their "superiority" isn't the end for them. In fact, he rouses them to realize their genetic transformation is a rebirth into a race that can breed and live in harmony with others.
  • Take a Third Option: With the true motive behind the Highbreed invasion revealed that they're dying out, Ben's only two options seem to be to take them out before they take the rest of the universe with them. Being Ben Tennyson, however, he chooses to use the Omnitrix to save them and the rest of the universe.
  • Taking You with Me: This is at the core of the Highbreeds' motivation. They are in reality dying out from disease and sterility, and their genocide of other species is a bitter response to their own extinction.
