A long time ago, the humans who lived in Dwarven Doors have fallen into the slavery of orcs. Things begin to change however, when Konrad briefly fights the orcs in Dwarven Doors and inspires some of the peasants to break free. This includes Tallin, a young son of a human weaponsmith. When a new orcish sovereign wants to subjugate every orcs in the northern lands, including the slaver leader Al'Tar, Tallin uses the distraction to rally the peasants against the slavers.


This campaign provides examples of:

  • Art Shift: The portraits used in this campaign are noticeably cartoonish, especially when compared to other campaigns. This is due to the fact that the campaign's artwork has not changed after the rest of the game underwent Art Evolution.
  • The Cavalry: When the player is fighting through a troll ambush in "Stolen Gold", Krash, after having flown off unexpectedly at the start of the mission with Tallin & co. thinking that he had had enough of them, reappears with a horde of drakes a few days later, ready to break the siege. If the drakes aren't enough to do it (and you still have the loyal elves units), a troop of elves will appear to help and (depending on your choice) scares the trolls into retreating.
  • Don't Call Me "Sir": Although Tallin is practically in charge of the people of Dwarven Doors, Tallin refuses to be called "Lord" as he considers himself to be just a peasant. At the epilogue (if Stalrag is still alive), Tallin realizes that he will have to get used to it since he is now officially the leader of the Northern Alliance.
  • Dying Curse: Malifor gives a really lengthy curse towards all his enemy, especially Tallin, when he is killed by the mages. He likely wouldn't stop if his body doesn't crumble to dust.
  • Enemy Civil War: In the first scenario, "Breaking the Siege", Tallin's orc slavers are attacked by orcs sent by Rakhsas, giving Tallin and fellow slaves the opportunity to break free.
  • Final Battle: The final scenario has Tallin and all his allies besieging Rakhsas and his remaining army in his castle.
  • Hold the Line: In "An Old Friend", Tallin's side faces a massive orc army led personally by Rakhsas which will only grow bigger if you try to be aggresive. You only need to survive until the turn limit runs out and Tallin will decide to retreat.
  • Inescapable Ambush: A chamber in Malifor's lair in "The Pursuit" features this. When your unit steps on the upper half of it, the door they enter will close and two other doors will open, revealing Giant Spiders ready to attack all your units in the chamber.
  • The Needs of the Many: How Tallin convinces Stalrag to let Ro'Arthian and Ro'Sothian take the Highbrook Pass. The sorcerer brothers want to be left alone there and the heroes need the brothers's help to save the entire dwarvish kingdom, so Stalrag's dwarves should move out of their home for the greater good.
  • Schizophrenic Difficulty: The first four or so chapters are absurdly hard even on the easiest difficulty level, while the latter half of the campaign is pretty easy, just extremely annoying, because every single chapter throws a seemingly endless wave of orcs and trolls at you that take virtually forever to kill off.
