Tropes

  • Big Brother Instinct: While he does spend some time messing with Tim by chatting with the kidnappers, Red Hood is clearly ticked at them for kidnapping his little brother in the first place (and they all get a gun-smack to the face for it).
  • Bruce Wayne Held Hostage: Tim Drake is kidnapped and held for ransom. While he has the skills and ability to easily escape on his own, he can't do that without blowing his cover. Hence, Red Hood has to come bail him out...and he decides to have a little fun while he's there.
  • Dartboard of Hate: While it's clear the kidnappers don't actually hate Tim, (and only targeted him because his parents can pay a lot of ransom money, and Tim is frequently around town where they could easily find and nab him) they do have a picture of him pinned to the wall with a throwing knife as an amusing detail.
  • Do Wrong, Right: Jason takes the time to lecture Tim's kidnappers on their poor technique as a distraction while Tim slips the ropes.
  • Slipped the Ropes: Once Jason shows up and the kidnappers are distracted Tim, who is bored and annoyed, easily slips out of the meager ropes holding his wrists and ankles. He only does so after loudly reminding Jason he was still tied up and having Jason tell him to stop interrupting his chat.
  • Stupid Crooks: The kidnappers nabbed Tim in public in full view of multiple cameras using a van rented with one of their real identities and then took Tim to that guy's real apartment leaving the van parked outside. They also failed to wear masks.
  • Vehicular Kidnapping: The kidnappers grabbed Tim and drove off in a van.
