  • Adaptational Early Appearance: The Creature Commandos segment is adapted from Weird War Tales #100; Dr. Myrra Rhodes hadn't debuted in the series by then, but she's present here.
  • Back from the Dead: The Flash, though he was never actually dead to begin with and that was what Abra Kadabra had believed at first before finding out this was not true.
  • Berserk Button: When Abra Kadabra finds out that Flash manages to find which Mirror Master had the crooked teeth, he is angry that he was bested by his own enemy and zaps him with his wand. Little did Abra know however is that Flash grabbed the duplicator device off of Mirror Master shortly after Mirror Master's defeat to put a decoy in his place.
  • Better Than New: To redeem himself for taking their chimney apart while looking for their cat Precious, Mazing Man promises Owen and Fiona he'll fix it for them. He does it by placing the bricks back where they were before. One touch of the shelf however makes the whole thing collapse, getting coal dust on Mazing Man, Fiona, and Owen.
  • Book Ends: This episode marks the final appearance for Kanjar Ro to show that he's come full circle since his first appearance back in season one's first episode.
  • Character Death: The Flash. This later turns out to not be true when Flash explains to Batman how he survived.
  • Classical Movie Vampire: Vincent Velcro
  • Demoted to Extra: Batman plays a supporting role in all 4 stories.
  • Destroy the Evidence: As in the original comic story, Lucky throws Lt. Shrieve's camera into the ocean, destroying all evidence of Dinosaur Island, to prevent Army Intelligence from using the beasts for war.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Though Kanjar Ro seems confident at first he'll actually succeed with using the bomb he planted to blow up Rann with, he doesn't count on his teleportation rod only being so effective for so long.
  • Faking the Dead: The Flash
  • Frankenstein's Monster: Private Elliott Lucky Taylor
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Kanjar Ro becomes a victim of this trope after the bomb he planned to blow up Rann with ends up on a jungle planet and Kanjar Ro desperately attempts to teleport himself away to no avail.
  • Just Desserts: Both Kanjar Ro and the Ultra-Humanite face this fate. Kanjar-Ro gets eaten by an alien creature and the Ultra-Humanite is last seen trapped in a corner by his formerly controlled dinosaurs.
  • Mythology Gag: The alien creature on the jungle planet that eventually eats Kanjar Ro is basically a recolored version of the alien Teen Titans (2003) episode "Stranded."
  • Powder Gag: 'Mazing Man causes a fireplace to collapse, covering himself and the homeowners from head to foot in soot.
  • "Reason You Suck" Speech: Vincent Velcro delivers one to Matthew Shrieve as the Creature Commandos row away from the island in a rowboat.
Vincent Velcro: You made us monsters Shrieve. Made us fight your stinking war. That we can understand.
  • Smurfette Principle: As in the source comic, Myrra Rhodes is the only female member on the Creature Commandos team.
  • Snake People: Myrra Rhodes, a doctor with snakes for hair.
  • The Voiceless: Warren Griffith (a werewolf) doesn't have any lines of dialogue apart from grunting and sniffing noises. Pvt. Elliott Lucky Taylor (a Frankenstein's monster) also doesn't have lines of dialogue apart from grunting noises he makes.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Abra Kadabra has this reaction towards Flash changing history anyways.
  • Wolf Man: Warren Griffith.
