Recap / Batman The Brave And The Bold S 2 E 14 The Siege Of Starro Part Two

Go To

  • Big Damn Heroes: The restored Metal Men arrive just in time to prevent Batman from being drained by the creature.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Starro is stopped, but at the cost of B'wanna Beast's life.
  • Dying Declaration of Love: B'wana's last request to Batman is to tell Vixen he loves her.
  • Face-Revealing Turn: Booster arrives at the lab just as Doc Magnus is working on some equipment and facing away from him.
Booster: Doc Magnus, we need the help of your Metal Men.
Doc Magnus: [reveals he has a spore on his face] And they wanted to help, too, until I reprogrammed their minds to only serve Starro.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: B'wana Beast sacrifices himself to stop the Faceless Hunter.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Batman managed to lift one of the Faceless Hunter's gadgets. He uses it to trap him behind a force field.
  • Hope Spot:
    • B'wana Beast manages to break free of his restraints on the ship and take the Faceless Hunter in a wrestling match, only to be overpowered when distracted.
    • After the Starro-creature springs to life, Captain Marvel tries to use the same attack that killed Starro in the first place. Instead of being hurt, though, the creature absorbs the lightning and blasts Captain Marvel away.
  • Kaiju: Using B'wana Beast's powers, the Faceless Hunter remakes Starro's dead body and the shriveled spores into a humanoid behemoth that towers over skyscrapers. It grows even larger the more energy it drains. The Metal Men have to combine into Alloy to properly fight it.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: After recovering, Alloy attacks the incapacitated Starro-creature and pounds it into paste.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • The Faceless Hunter's trophy collection includes a Parademon, a Thanagarian, and Brainiac.
    • How Skeets was able to free Doc Magnus from his Starro Spore and restore the Metal Men.
  • No-Sell:
    • Energy attacks are useless against the Starro-creature, due to its energy absorption power.
    • The reason the Metal Men are summoned is because they're the only ones immune to the creature's energy absorption. However, it also turns out that because they were immune to Starro's mind control, the Faceless Hunter got to Doc Magnus and had him reprogram them.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The reprogrammed Metal Men while fighting Booster.
  • Shrine to the Fallen: A statue of B'wana Beast is made in his honor.
  • Villain Respect: The Faceless Hunter is impressed enough with Batman to promise to put his head on display in his trophy collection.
  • The Voiceless: Many of the characters such as Mister Miracle, Big Barda and Elongated Man don't talk. It's especially effective with Vixen at the end of the episode after B'wana Beast sacrifices himself.
