Recap / Avengers Assemble S 4 E 9 The Once And Future Kang

Go To

The All-New, All-Different Avengers have been protecting the world in their predecessors' absence and now, with Jane Foster's help, it's time to bring them back from wherever dimensions they were sent to.

Vision and Wasp travel to the future where they hope to find Falcon, only to find it taken over by Kang and their tech and weapons weakened. What's more is that Falcon seems to be in league with Kang, but for what reason?

  • Adaptational Intelligence: Orrgo just appears to be a mindless monster.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Luckily for the Avengers, Orrgo lacks his comic counterpart's hypnosis abilities.
  • Deal with the Devil: Kang brought Sam to the future so he could fix the singularity (or so he says), and Sam agreed to stay.
  • Ghost City: Future New York, thanks to Kang scaring everyone off. The only ones left are Kang, Falcon and Red Hulk.
  • Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow: Future Red Hulk's hair is starting to thin out at the back.
  • I Lied: As it turns out, Kang was not on the level with Falcon. Of course, Sam foresaw this, and lied himself.
  • It Only Works Once: Before they set out, Jane warns each Avenger their tethers will only work the one time, so they have to find the Avengers they're going after and bring them back first time.
  • Negative Space Wedgie: There's one above the future New York, caused by all Kang's time travel. Kang's trying to shrink it down to more manageable size so he can use it.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Jane's experiments with portals accidentally causes a Orrgo rampage.
  • Retcanon: Sam's aging up and new outfit causes him to look more like his MCU counterpart.
  • Smoke Out: Sam manages to abscond with Vision after throwing down a smoke grenade.
  • The Unreveal: Kang's suit takes damage, exposing a little bit of his face, but only the side of his cheek.
  • Vagueness Is Coming: After being beaten, Kang taunts the Avengers with the fact that the true mastermind behind the Cabal is coming for them.
  • We Can Rule Together: Kang does legitimately offer Sam a chance to come with him and conquer stuff, thinking he'd be good at it. Sam, naturally, refuses.
  • Worf Had the Flu: The anti-tech field causes Vision to not be at the top of his game, allowing Falcon to fight him hand to hand without losing.
