After another argument with his Father Odin, Thor returns to Earth to discover that Doctor Doom has completely taken it over. He must now team up with old and new heroes, all with new identities, and find out how the Latverian tyrant was able to accomplish this task and how to undo it.
Tropes:
- Clingy Costume: In the altered timeline, Bruce Banner must wear a containment suit at all times, lest the Hulk come out.
- A Day in the Limelight: Thor's the center character here.
- Human Popsicle: Captain America was never defrosted in the Planet Doom timeline.
- In Spite of a Nail: Despite Doom's changes to reality, Peter Parker still has superpowers.
- I Owe You My Life: Doctor Doom used time travel to save Tony Stark from the terrorists, and Banner from turning into the Hulk, and as a result they obey him completely.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Mildly. The episode begins with Odin tearing Thor a strip for not showing up at Asgard, but as it's supposed to be a day celebrating Thor, his brushing them off is a little rude.
- La Résistance: In the absence of Avengers, and with SHIELD eradicated, the only people fighting against Doom are the Defenders, consisting of Hawkeye, Slinger (aka Peter Parker) and "Snap" Wilson.
- Magical Defibrillator: Natasha's gauntlets zap Thor back from the brink of death after being zapped by Doom's gamma-enhanced repulsors... somehow.
- Malevolent Masked Man: The Black Bride, the Natasha Romanov of the altered timeline, hides her face behind a golden mask.
- The Mole: As it turns out, Natasha is working against Doom. As is Frank Castle.
- Mythology Gag:
- Hawkeye's outfit in the altered timeline is his Ultimate universe counterpart's second outfit.
- Spidey's outfit is based on a mix of his Noir counterpart one, with a bit of the Iron Spider in there as well (the extending robotic legs). His name, meanwhile, is from an alias Peter used in the 90s.
- Falcon goes by the nickname of "Snap", the supposed criminal identity comic Sam went by before he met Cap (which never happened).
- Natasha's golden mask and otherwise entirely covered-up appearance evokes Iron Man villain (and occasional love interest) Madame Masque.
- Never Say "Die": Hawkeye says that when the last SHIELD helicarrier went down, Nick Fury was "well... y'know".
- Please Select New City Name: Earth, renamed Planet Doom!
- Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Thor uses time travel to go back to before Doom time travelled (uh... anyway) and stop him from causing the plot in the first place.
