Episode:

A day after the defeat of Vlitra, a large celebration is held in the Shinkoku capital city of Shinto. Meanwhile, Asura heads back home and is greeted by his teary-eyed daughter and his loving wife, Durga. However, this reunion is short-lived, as Asura is summoned by a Kagebosh on behalf of Emperor Strada, who wishes to speak with him. Upon arriving in the throne room, Asura kneels before the Emperor, who remains oddly still. To his confusion, Asura reaches out to him and reacts with shock when Strada collapses. Asura reaches out to catch him.

To Asura's horror, he discovers that Strada has been murdered. With the Emperor's blood on his hands, Asura is accused of treachery by the soldiers who were present, and he desperately makes his escape. However, when he leaves the premises, he is cornered by Wyzen and an army of Doji, who also accuse him of treason. Asura tries to argue his innocence, but Wyzen brushes it off as a lie, and orders his soldiers to attack.

Meanwhile, back at Asura's residence, Durga and Mithra are approached by Sergei, who (offscreen) mortally wounds Durga before taking her daughter.

Asura, now a walking pincushion, continues to stand, prompting Wyzen to take him on himself. The clash is brief and Asura promptly subdues his comrade. He prays for his family's safety before rushing back home. However, it's too late...

Asura returns home to find his house wrecked, Mithra gone, and Durga in a puddle of her own blood. He swiftly rushes to his wife's side and holds her in his arms. Durga urges Asura to save Mithra and with her last breath, whispers something that we do not hear to Asura before she quietly slips away.

Enraged, Asura rushes to the Karma Fortress and discovers Mithra, held captive by none other than the other Guardian Generals, including Yasha, who is now wearing a mask. Yasha tries to justify the actions of the Generals, but Asura, quite understandably, doesn't want any of it and charges at his brother-in-law, only to then get blasted by a bolt of lightning, courtesy of the one masterminding this entire operation: Deus.

Deus explains to Asura that he and the other Guardian Generals plan to save this world through something he refers to as "The Cause", before delivering another shocking blow to Asura. With Asura pinned against the wall, Deus delivers the finishing blow and throws him off the edge of edge of the Karma Fortress as Mithra cries out for her father. As he falls, Asura swears that he will have his vengeance and plumments back down to Gaea, the impact of the landing killing him.

Interlude:

In the distant future, the story of Asura has gone down in legend, though not in the way we just witnessed. In the tale, Asura is depicted as an evil six-armed, three-headed beast, wielding countless swords and spears. It is said that out of his own selfish ambitions, he slew Strada and brought about an age wrought with death and suffering. In retaliation, the remaining demigods, now known as the Seven Deities, came down to earth and killed Asura, saving humanity.

Tropes:

  • An Ice Person: When Mithra cries out for her father as Deus throws him out into space, Olga flash-freezes her.
  • Dog Pile of Doom: The Doji try to overpile Asura with overwhelming numbers, only for Asura to throw them off with his Battle Aura.
  • Dying Declaration of Hate: It is when Asura is literally falling out of orbit does he proclaim that he will have his vengeance.
  • Frame-Up: When Asura is invited to the Emperor's throne room, he finds the Emperor dead. Soon Wyzen and a group of soldiers all gather to arrest and/or kill him for his "treachery", Asura's hands covered in the dead king's blood. He finds out that it was the rest of the Eight Generals led by Deus who did this; he wanted to increase their march against the Gohma unobstructed and use Mithra's mantra powers to achieve this, so he murdered the Emperor (who wanted to keep their strategy as it was) and set Asura up as the patsy (knowing that he wouldn't allow Mithra to be used in such a way).
  • Major Injury Underreaction: Despite having been run through with the Doji's many spears after their Dog Pile of Doom, Asura is still able to fight Wyzen unobstructed.
  • Neck Lift: Deus lifts Asura by his neck, strike him point-blank with a lightning-bolt and then throws him off of the space-station, Asura falling to Earth and killing him.
  • Returning War Vet: The episode begins with Asura's wife and daughter welcoming him home, Mithra crawling into his chest for her fears that he could have died.
  • Trauma Conga Line: The Emperor is killed, Asura's wife is murdered, his daughter kidnapped, Asura is blamed for it all and then is killed by Deus, the man who orchestrated all of it.
