Recap / Arrested Development S 5 E 9 Unexpected Company

Go To

The congressional race between Sally Sitwell and the absent Lindsay ended, with Sally winning the election. Unlike Lucille 2, who she is replacing, she now supports building the wall, meaning the Bluths have to come up with the funds to do so, having lost the land George bought to Mexican Romneys, and rope Michael in.

Having invested in Fakeblock, Rebel now wants to see the company in action. George Michael, who has been harassed by the Anonymous since Cinco de Cuatro, decides to pay some protesters to pretend to be Anonymous scare Rebel off. Unbeknownst to him, the company has been active for some time, with actual employees obviously not doing much work.

After Buster's escape, Buster and Oscar find themselves chained together while they look for a new prosthetic hand for Buster and a place to stay, come across Stan Sitwell, and invite themselves to stay at his place, which Stan takes as them taking him hostage.

After another failed suicide attempt, George tries and fails to win Lucille back, who had fallen for another man named Dustin "Dusty" Radler. Meanwhile after Tony Wonder's sudden disappearance GOB tries to ween off his public image as a gay man by enrolling in gay conversion therapy and Tobias improvizes himself as a family man, living in the model house's attic with DeBrie and Murph.

The Arrested Development episode "Unexpected Company" provides examples of:

  • Bungled Suicide: George tries to kill himself with exhaust from Michael's car. Too bad Michael drives an electric car.
  • Cliffhanger Copout: The threatening Anonymous seen in the previous season finale turn out to be harmless nuisances.
  • Mondegreen Gag: George Micheal tries to hire some protesters in Guy Fawkes masks, but instead gets a bunch of guys in fox masks.
  • Spring Time For Hitler: Fakeblock continues to be this for George Michael, at least to an outside glance.
