Well, it's a start at least.

When Stacey and Nigel become an item, a jealous Spud decides to do anything to win her affection, including striking an unholy deal with the ruthless Gorgon sister, Fury.

Tropes

  • Amicable Exes: Highly downplayed with Stacey and Nigel, considering they weren't even really dating and Stacey just agreed to go with him to the dance before changing her mind after two days. Regardless, they seem to still be on good terms afterward.
  • Big Eater: Since there hasn't been a lot of Dragon business to do recently, Jake starts binging on junk food.
  • Call-Back: Trixie and Spud winning co-president in "Supernatural Tuesday" is brought back into focus, as they're tasked with coming up with the theme for the next school dance.
  • Canis Latinicus: Spud uses this as the reasoning for why Stacey originally agreed to go to the dance with Nigel.
Spud: He must have cast some kind of likeus-Nigelus-nota-Spudus.
Trixie: Or... you're just jealous ridiculous.
  • The Fat Episode: Jake puts on weight from his junk food binge, becoming so fat that he can't fight the Gorgon sisters.
  • Give Geeks a Chance/Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Stacey falls for Spud because she recognizes that he's a genuinely nice person who cares about her even with his eccentricities.
  • The "I Love You" Stigma: The characters avoiding saying "love" in favor of "like like".
  • Mirrors Reflect Everything: Nigel teleports a pair of welding goggles onto Jake in order to reflect the Gorgon Sisters' petrifying gaze back at them.
  • Not Brainwashed: It's revealed that Fury didn't brainwash Stacy into liking Spud; she fell in love with him of her own volition.
  • Popping Buttons: Jake becomes so fat that his belly pops the button off his cargo shorts.
  • Rhetorical Question Blunder: Spud takes Jake's rhetorical question of asking whether or not Stacey is really worth pursuing to heart, and decides she in fact is. Jake ends up accidentally falling for it himself afterward.
Trixie: Why can't I learn that rhetorical questions don't work with this one?
    Jake: Maybe it's because—
    Trixie: Or you?
  • Secret Relationship: Spud and Stacey agree to keep their relationship hidden for now, so she doesn't lose respect in the eyes of the other students.
  • Sequel Episode: To "Bring It On", "Supernatural Tuesday, and "The Rotwood Files" to a lesser extent. Fury is once again the main antagonist, and Nigel is given his first real focus since the presidential election. Meanwhile, Stacey's growing romantic attraction to Spud along with more focus put on her Hidden Depths make up a majority of Spud's internal conflict.
  • The Stinger: Spud and Stacey slow-dancing in the broom closet while Trixie and Jake try to force him out, believing he's in there alone, moping.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Spud and Stacy get together though he agrees to keep their relationship on the down-low for now.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: While Nigel was never really a bad guy to begin with, he goes out of his way to help free Jake and aid him in his fight again the Gorgon sisters.
  • Two-Faced: Fury inquires with a witch regarding a replacement charm bracelet who has a face that's half-normal, half-green and disfigured.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Even with her plans currently foiled, Fury manages to escape capture by fleeing before an overweight Jake can catch up to her.
  • A Weighty Aesop: The episode's B-plot, with Jake binging on junk food and getting out of shape to the point where he doesn't even stand a chance when the freed Gorgons come for him, serves as this.
