The Smiths get new neighbors. Roger pretends to be a kite.
Tropes:
- Bait-and-Switch: When it seems like Roger will crash the meteor into the new neighbors to get rid of them, he instead crashes it a fair distance away from them, into their house. You'd think that would be enough, but it's rather him, scorched to a crisp from the impact and politely greeting them, causing them to permanently move away.
- Birds of a Feather: Jessica and Francine are such, both wanting to make new friends, have their children grow up in a thriving community, and being too excited to greet their new neighbors that they don't prepare anything but empty dishes. Subverted with the rest of the Smiths, who were simply playing a role, and really found them incredibly obnoxious.
- Call-Back:
- Klaus says that one of the families they ran out of town were the Memaris.
- Tuttle says that the thing he despises most about new neighbors is how they say "hey, how you doin'". Ironically, this was his first line in the show, and he said it to Francine, and an annoyed Stan.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Francine demands that the family get rid of the new neighbors because Jessica doesn't drink, and uses water to make scrambled eggs, rather than half-and-half.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: While Francine doesn't find kinship with the new neighbors, she does find a place among the Cherry Street Neighbor Haters Club, although the feeling unfortunately isn't mutual.
- Faking the Dead: To get the new neighbors to leave, the Neighbor Haters Club make Jake the dad believe he killed Jeff via flare gun, and use Stan's CIA connections to remove them from the neighborhood.
- May I Borrow a Cup of Sugar?: When Stan has hesitations removing the new neighbors, the Club uses this trope to sway him, saying that because Francine has been chummy with Jessica, the new neighbors will start asking to borrow or use his things.
- New Neighbors As The Plot Demands: The Smiths get new next door neighbors, but it turns out they get rid of most of them through complex schemes, to avoid having to put up with them. They actually succeed, until Francine catches on and demands they be allowed to return.
- No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Roger, twofold:
- When he sees the new neighbors, he happily greets them. Only, this is after he lands a meteor in their backyard and destroys their house, so they simply move away.
- At the episode's end, he redesigns himself as a new space kite for the boy's birthday, but he wishes him a happy birthday, which causes him to run screaming.
- Not So Above It All: Francine wants the new neighbors out after realizing that Jessica the housewife is per her own words "a weirdo, water in her eggs, sober nerd." After she demands they stop evicting neighbors and bring the new ones back.
- Obnoxious Entitled Housewife: Outside of not allowing elbows on the table, Jessica turns out to be a perfectly nice, polite woman. But Francine acts like she's this trope because she has a sober house, and uses half and half for her scrambled eggs, rather than water.
- One-Neighbor Neighborhood: Enforced. As it turns out, whenever the Smiths get new neighbors, they (sans Francine) band together with Greg and Tuttle to trick them into moving away, through the Cherry Street Neighbor Haters Club. Francine has her reservations, until she learns that her new Housewife friend is "boring" and allows the Club to do whatever to make them leave.
- Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The episode is based on the song "Won't you be my neighbor?" from Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: The new neighbors leave when they see Roger crash a meteor into their backyard. Tuttle and Greg, who are high themselves, follow suit.
