Recap / All Hail King Julien S 06 E 06 One More Cup Part 2

Go To

When Julien opens a chain of herbal tea stores, Karl offers a business deal with his brother's "Brüs by Bruce" coffee chain which leads to Golden Julien being outlawed so Bruce can have a monopoly on the industry.

Tropes:

  • Batman Gambit: Unable to handle his big brother himself, Karl knew that if Julien and Bruce became business partners, Bruce would find some way to screw over the kingdom which would then lead to Julien's group taking down Bruce for him. He even knew that by suggesting Clover distract Bruce, no matter what kind of plan she came up for that, their two personalities would lead to any plan devolving into Clover violently beating up Bruce.
Clover: Why couldn't I have just knocked him out in the first place?!
Karl: Because I wanted you to hate him so much you truly wished to harm him!
  • Berserk Button: When Karl suggests Clover could distract Bruce with "feminine wiles", she attacks him for it, which comes up again later when despite her best efforts, Bruce does just get seduced by her feminine wiles.
Clover: I am a warrior! I don't employ my feminine wiles for nobody!
  • Big Brother Bully: Bruce is one to Karl, to the point where he has a large abstract painting of him bullying Karl as a centerpiece of his company lobby.
Karl: You agreed to remove this piece from the lobby!
Bruce: Then I changed my mind. Know why? Cause... this! (starts giving Karl a noogie)
Karl: Stop! Seriously Bruce, not in front of my arch-nemesis!
  • Call-Back: Karl's older brother Bruce and his poo coffee company mentioned back in "Enter the Fanaloka" make an appearance.
  • Enemy Mine: Karl and Julien eventually team up to take down Bruce, which was Karl's end goal the entire time.
  • Faux Affably Evil: In contrast to his younger brother Karl, Bruce puts on a frat bro-esque facade in order to manipulate those naive enough to sign one of his contracts, then turn on them immediately after.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Karl says that his older brother has made his life a living "heck". He even apologizes for saying it.
  • Meaningful Name: Bruce works in the coffee industry and his name sounds kind of like "brews", a fact that he capitalizes on in his marketing.
  • Sequel Episode: To "One More Cup".
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Karl appears to Julien with the same candles out and he appears when they turn back on gimmick he used in "Enter the Fanaloka" Notably even continuing the gag that each time he does it he appears more uncomfortably close to Julien. Last time he appeared in bed next to Julien, this time he appears in bed spooning Julien.
  • Word Salad Lyrics: The calming song that plays when everyone is enjoying Golden Julien, which is lampshaded in the song itself.
These are words that don't make sense, just Word Salad, let's build a fence
