Continues in Het Casino (Pot Of Gold)

Tropes:

  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Where does Janola go after the cooking is stopped? He isn't in the next episode either.
  • Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: The lake monster's species doesn't really exist, but if it did it propably wouldn't be purple with green spikes and fur tuft.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: Dr. Livingston.
  • Vague Age: The gorillas refer to Alfred as "the boy", despite the fact that he's much larger than the 13-year old Tom and the fact that Ollie, Pikkie, and Dolf, all roughly his age, have had clear adult designs for a while at this point and Ollie and Pikkie have jobs and high-levelneducation, apparently implying that Alfred is still a young adult and making everybody else's ages confusing.
  • Forced to Watch: Henk's son is being boiled alive, while he's tied up and can't do anything.
  • Gender Flip: In the finnish dub, Janola is a woman.
  • Hollywood Natives: Both tribes the expedition encounters are this, which is weird because it's kind of racist and the series is generally against racism. The second tribe is this especially, trying to cook the expedion party alive and eat them because of "tradition". The gorillas in between are also treated as this, depite the fact they don't have any associated physical traits and they're instead dressed like greasers or motorbike gang members.
  • Cannibal Tribe: The second tribe - if you count Sapient Eat Sapient as some kind of cannibalism, since none of them are the same species as anybody in the expedition party. The episode treats it pretty much the same, though.
  • Adventurer Outfit: Alfred wears just a pith helmet, while Von Paljas and Henk wear the whole pith helmet ensemble.
  • How does a monter that large actually fit into that lake, is it supposedly deep enpugh for it to swim around in underwater or dies it just lie at the bottom?
  • Dub Name Change:
    • The finnish dub makes the minor change of Arlom to Arlomi [or Arloni].
    • In the english dub, Livingston's name really sounds like "Lovingstone", but it could be just pronouncation issue.
  • Species Surname: Pikkie doesn't have a surname in the original, but in the finnish dub when the vultures ask him who he is, he introduces himself as "Hannu Magpie". While he couldconceivably mean "Hannu the magpie" since finnish lacks articles like "a" and "the", it doesn't really sound like that's the case. Other episodes treat "Henk (the) Mole" similiarly.
  • Where the Hell Is Springfield?: Is the Arlom [or Arlon?] continent South America, Africa, or some part of Asia? Since the South Africa analogue is called "South Atrique", Afrca can propably be ruled out.
  • Arbitrary Scepticism:
    • Henk has had a number of supernatural/science fiction-y experiences at this point, but doesn't even consider the myth about the world losing it's color when the pot is removed could be true.
    • Alfred, who has had even more supernatural experiences starting when he was a teenager, also immediately dismisses the whole idea of there being a pot of gold as ridiculous.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: Doctor Livingston.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment:
    • The vultures who harass Pikkie are less weird and out of place than the below gorillas, but still pretty random and pointless.
    • The prolonged encounter with the motorbike gang gorillas. Voth these scenes come off like the writer was just trying to prolong the story to make the journey feel long, or to make it long enough to be a two-parter.
    • The encounter with the lake monster is also pretty random.
  • Furry Confusion:
    • Right at the beginning, you can see two non-anthropomorphic cows grazing in a field.
    • At the beginning of the jungle trek, we see a snake whose sapience is unclear.
    • At the lake, random bird noises are heard.
  • Alfred's living room suddendly has a green couch not seen before or since.
  • In the beginning Pikkie falls from a staggering height and also lands in a way that looks really bad, but survives, shows no injuries, and Alfred says he's not wounded.
  • Pikkie has a large amount of feathers constantly falling out when he's flying.
  • Imagine Spot: Alfred briefly imagines his house floating in stormy sea.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Once again, Winnie stays at home while everybody else goes off on an adventure.
  • Stewed Alive: The second tribe intends to do this to the entire party, and starts with Alfred.
  • Cliffhanger: Alfred being cooked alive in the cauldron.
  • Inevitable Waterfall
