With Gumbald and Bubblegum on the brink of war, Finn tries a last ditch attempt at peacemaking.

- Actor Allusion: Finn remarks how Aunt Lolly sounds similar to Margaret. Maria Bamford voices both characters.
- Armor-Piercing Question: When Fern hears Finn compare Aunt Lolly to his and Jake's mother, he argues that she's his mom as well. Finn agrees, countering that they're like family. "So why are we fighting?" Fern can't bring himself to respond.
- Character Development: Finn points out that when he was younger he was all about violence, but now he's on a mission to stop a war, the opposite of what he would have wanted before.
- Continuity Cavalcade: Gumbald's army is made up of every living baddie of note. From one-off troublemakers like Sir Slicer and Ash, to recurring villains such as Ricardio and Me-Mow.
- Continuity Nod:
- Fern gloats on how he's better than Finn after his 17th birthday just to show how petty and jealous he became towards Finn while trying to kill him.
- Finn tells Gumbald, Lolly and Chicle about the time Jake embarassed Finn in front of FP and her relatives.
- Finger-Licking Poison: Gumbald covers Finn and Jake with his Dum-Dum powder, passing it off as glitter, and tells Finn to be sure to give Bubblegum a big hug. The plot is foiled when Peppermint Butler, while cleaning the "glitter" off of Finn, gets dum-dummed instead.
- Foregone Conclusion: Chicle was doomed to turn back into Crunchy since his appearance in "Graybles 1000+"
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Chicle is accidentally turned back into Crunchy after Finn and Jake spill some of Gumbald's dum-dum juice on him.
- Humongous Mecha: Gumbald is building one shaped like a cake.
- Legion of Doom: Gumbald's plan B is revealed to be his formation of one of these, consisting of himself, Aunt Lolly, Crunchy, the Squirrel, Ricardio, Me-Mow, Peacemaster, Samantha, Bandit Princess, Ash, Scorcher, Sir Slicer, Pete Sassafras, the Green Knight/Fern, Gunther, and the Ice King.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: To show how serious things are going to be, the snail, who usually waves to the viewer, does not wave at all in this episode.
- Say My Name: When Princess Bubblegum realizes Gumbald's peace treaty was a trick to try and get her doused with dum-dum juice, she screams "GUMBALD!"
- This Means War!: Finn tries in vain to broker peace between the Candy Kingdom and Gumbaldia. It's all for naught when Gumbald uses him and Jake to try and dum-dum Princess Bubblegum.
- Wham Episode: Finn and Jake fail to stop a war between the Candy Kingdom and Gumbaldia thanks to Gumbald, kickstarting the events of the Grand Finale.
