Jake's son finds a hidden box and draws attention from a Rainicorn.

Tropes:

  • Bilingual Dialogue: As usual, Lady Rainicorn speaks only Korean, as does Lee. However, this is the first episode in which her dialogue is subtitled.
  • Bomb Throwing Anarchist: Lee liked to detonate bombs on dogs when he was with Lady Rainicorn. At first they just cover the dogs in rainbow colors, but then they start getting more destructive. He initially targeted dogs, apparently because they had most of the social power, but in present day he's working with dogs to attack the institutions of a now Rainicorn-dominant society.
  • Cool People Rebel Against Authority: Subverted: Lee certainly looks cool with his rebellious ways, awesome hair, sweet leather jacket, and futuristic hoverbike but Lady's parents and eventually Lady herself thinks he's an idiot — and they're right: he doesn't know how the "nugget" works and ends up trapped inside it.
  • Continuity Nod: TV encounters the music box maker from "The Diary" again.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The episode focuses on Lady Rainicorn and TV. Significantly, it reveals how Lady came to Ooo from the Crystal Dimension.
  • Description Cut: At the end, TV talks about how great it is being independent. Cut to him with his grandparents, asking for food.
  • False Friend: Lee tracks down the crystal artifact to TV and pretends to be his friend so he can get him in a position to extract it.
  • Fantastic Racism: Lee hates dogs and wishes to destroy them. Ironically, he now hangs out with a gang of renegade dogs, which Lady Rainicorn calls him out on.
  • Furry Reminder: Lady wards off Lee's dog friends by bopping them on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper, like ordinary dogs.
  • Greaser Delinquents: Lee's persona.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Lee attempts to heist a powerfully destructive crystal artifact, but past knowing how to activate it, he has no idea how it actually works and becomes the first victim to it.
  • Hypocritical Humor: TV's idea of "independent living" is to switch from mooching off his mom to mooching off his grandparents.
  • Manchild: Assuming TV ages at the same rate as his siblings, he's at least in his late thirties and still living off his mother.
  • New-Age Retro Hippie: Lady's persona in the past.
  • Rule of Three: Three times does TV sing a short song about making a cool new friend in Lee, with Lee finishing the last verse. The third time Lee doesn't respond.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: At the end, the crystal absorbs Lee and is about to get Lady Rainicorn as well when TV puts it back on the box. Now Lady has to hide the box so that Lee can't get out.
  • Shout-Out: The "green mermaid coffee" is one to Starbucks. The dogs of the Crystal Dimension resemble KC Green's "This is Fine" dog.
  • What Does She See in Him?: Said by Lady's parents with regard to Lee, as they think he's an idiot.
