One very spooky night, Finn and Jake come face-to-face with an urban myth.

  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Jake doesn't want to buy anything of Starchy's stories, despite living in the bizarre world of Ooo. Finn even lampshades it.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Finn and Jake are having dinner at Pizza Sassy's, which first appeared in "Candy Streets".
    • Starchy mentions that his wife left him, a reference to "Cherry Cream Soda".
    • Finn and Jake mention that their chicken ran away, a reference to "BMO Noire".
  • Creepy Child: The Blank-Eyed Girls obviously, which are based off of the urban legend of Black-Eyed Children. This even includes the Must Be Invited element to them.
  • Funny Background Event: The guys making pizza in the beginning.
  • Gainax Ending: The Blank Eyed Girls take off their contact lenses. Then they take off their hair. And then their heads. And finally they shed their skins, revealing themselves to be star-like creatures that then fly out the window and dissolve into dandelion seeds. Jake and Finn are shocked, while BMO thought it was beautiful.
  • Homage: Starchie's radio show is one to Art Bell's late-night paranormal shows.
  • Interface Screw: Every shot with the Blank Eyed Girls has a dark circular border, until they remove their contact lenses.
  • Just Ignore It: Finn and Jake try to get rid of the Blank Eyed Girls by ignoring them. It doesn't work.
  • Must Be Invited: Starchy thinks the Blank Eyed Girl works by vampire rules and can't come in if she's not invited. Turns out she doesn't and just comes right in.
  • Riddle for the Ages: It's never explained what the Black Eyed Girls are.
  • Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl: The Blank Eyed Girls, Starchy even states that they've been seen for hundreds of years.
  • Tulpa: Finn figures that's what the Blank Eyed Girls are, since they started appearing when Starchie's show first aired, and were created by the collective belief of his listeners, but ultimately subverted.
