- Artifact Domination: Hunson's amulet forces Marceline (and briefly Finn) to take on a monstrous form and serve as ruler of the Nightosphere.
- Bystander Syndrome: The denizens of the Nightosphere, Jake even calls them complacent sheeple.
- Call-Back: Finn uses the portal-opening ritual from "It Came From the Nightosphere".
- Chaotic Evil: The concept is mentioned by name in this episode. Whoever wears the amulet will be filled with it and turn into an eldritch Nightosphere demon.
- Dagwood Sandwich: Finn and Jake find Hunson making a restrained version.
- Does This Remind You of Anything?: When charging Jake's phone, Beemo makes noises and faces as if straining to defecate.
- Easy Amnesia: Spoofed with Finn and Jake's amnesia being explained as them somehow hitting their hippocampus when thrown into prison in the Nightosphere.

- Jerkass Genie: As ruler of the Nightosphere, Marceline offers the denizens who come to see her "pleasure, pain, or weird punishment", but seems to dole them out arbitrarily. She makes one demon puke up bananas (which in the Nightosphere are demon poop) as his "weird punishment", and disintegrates a demon's right side when he reclutantly asks for "pain". When another demon wishes for "abs", she turns his head into a set of sculpted abdominal muscles.
- Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Finn as a demon sprouts several extra arms.
- One-Winged Angel: Finn turns into a demon when wearing the amulet.
- Ow, My Body Part!: During the flashback to their fight against possessed Marceline, Jake gets Finn thrown at him and shouts "Ow, my hippocampus!"
- Paper-Thin Disguise: Finn disguises himself as a demon by wearing his long johns with a literal paper mask and forks attached to his hood.
- Pet the Dog: Hunson ends up removing the amulet from Finn and throwing him out of the portal, apparently because he likes him.
- Piss-Take Rap: Finn's "political rap" to rouse the demons to rebel, which is simply a series of random buzzwords.
- Solid Gold Poop: Turns out the bananas from the Nightosphere are demon "stuff". Jake learns this when he's about to eat one.
- Spit Take: Hunson when seeing Finn going One-Winged Angel.
- Wants a Prize for Basic Decency: In Jake's film of the earlier events, Hunson attempts to show Finn there's no hard feelings from their previous meeting:Hunson: Come here, let's bury the hatchet! [Hugs Finn] See how I'm not killing you?
- Zerg Rush: The demons do this to take down Marceline despite her zapping them with bolts of green energy.
