When Finn is kidnapped by gnomes to be used as a power source, Jake tries to pay attention long enough to find him.
Tropes:
- 2D Visuals, 3D Effects: The sequence of Jake dancing with the beetle is animated in Flash.
- Accidental Hero: Jake saves Finn from the gnomes and destroys their doomsday device, but largely as a side effect of being overwhelmed by the Party God's "party energy".
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Jake has problems with this throughout the episode; he keeps getting distracted when trying to rescue Finn.
- Daydream Surprise: Finn is put into the brain machine, breaks out of it in a rage, and beats the gnomes up, and Jake then bursts in and is reunited with him. Cut to Finn still in the brain machine, obviously fantasizing.
- Description Cut:Finn: Jake's on his way to mess you guys - AAARGH!
(Cut to Jake sitting eating sandwiches with BMO) - Does This Remind You of Anything?: The gnomes have pedophile vibes, being introduced with No Sense of Personal Space towards Finn, and making him do "sexy fun dancing" at one point.
- Laughing at Your Own Jokes: After teaching the water nymphs to tell jokes, Jake laughs at his own joke for so long he passes out.
- Lotus-Eater Machine: The "brain machine" tricks Finn into thinking he's escaped from the gnomes.
- Non Sequitur: At the end of the episode, Jake randomly says "Let's go eat Cinnamon Bun!"
- Shout-Out: The scene where Finn is put into the brain machine and fantasizes about Jake rescuing him is visually based on the ending of Brazil.
