Pretty tight, right?

Prismo brings Fionna, Cake, and Simon to the Time Room where he reveals their connection and origins. However, all four of them are in danger as a mysterious man called The Scarab, a “god auditor”, begins hunting them down.

Tropes Include:

  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Wyatt, too distracted by the beeping buttons on Prismo's remote, wishes for some quiet. He ends up in a silent cartoon universe Chained to a Railway.
  • Call-Back:
    • The Drift returns from "BMO".
    • One of the alternate universes Prismo shows is the one featured in Season 7's "Beyond the Grotto".
  • The Cameo: During the prologue, mugshots of Martin Mertens and the Void Caster can be spotted as Scarab browses his options.
    • As Prismo is scanning Ooo for the source of the crossover, the screen briefly goes over footage of Huntress Wizard in the forest, Princess Bubblegum opening a candy orphanage, Pep and Blaine sharing a milkshake, and Susan Strong and Frieda swinging from a vine in a jungle before landing on Fionna and Cake.
    • Lemongrab appears on Prismo's TV screen trying to make his camel drink water when Cake fiddles with Prismo's remote. This serves to better show off Jinkx Monsoon as Lemongrab's new voice after Justin Roiland's departure.
    • When Prismo's showing various parts of the multiverse, we get a brief shot of Flapjack, Captain K'nuckles, and Bubby, with Prismo noting that their universe already existed. Pendleton Ward used to write for Flapjack before creating Adventure Time, with the particular clip being of the Flapjack episode "My Guardian Angel is Killing Me", which he co-wrote with Alex Hirsch.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Fionna attempts to beat up Prismo (which does nothing since he's a Living Shadow) because he squirted Cake with water when she was messing with his magic remote.
  • Fisher King: Turns out Prismo stored his own fanfiction reality that is Fionna and Cake's world in the Ice Kings head since it was so empty from all his madness. When he got cured and his mind was no longer insane or magic, their world lost all its magic too as a result.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Prismo makes perfectly clear to Simon that just because the former couldn't help him to bring Betty back doesn't mean he has any right to mess with the Multiverse by doing so himself.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Simon suggests to stop the Scarab, bring magic back to Fionna and Cakes world and make it last forever is for him to become Ice King again. Both Fionna and Cake seem nervous about this.
  • Iconic Attribute Adoption Moment: Shortly after bringing Fionna and Cake to the Time Room, Prismo alters their appearances to match their original forms, making Cake an Uplifted Animal with shapeshifter abilities and giving Fionna her iconic outfit.
  • Innocently Insensitive: "Innocent" might be a stretch, but Prismo essentially causes Simon to relive the loss of Betty through the footage he shows to Fionna and Cake to explain why their world lost its magic.
  • Late to the Realization: Prismo doesn't realize that he had copied Finn and Jake until after he finished making Fionna and Cake's background.
  • The Magic Goes Away: Ice King being cured and reverted to Simon also removed the magic of the universe hidden in his head, rewriting it into a mundane one instead of one similar to Ooo.
  • The Maker: Prismo's secondary purpose as Wishmaster is creating new universes in the multiverse from wishes he grants. The plot is happening because he decided to make a universe of his own design which is prohibited.
  • Magic Skirt: Averted. Prismo gives Fionna her outfit's normal skirt, but after she falls down some stairs and expresses discomfort with it, he uses his magic to turn it into shorts instead.
  • Neuro-Vault: Exaggerated; Prismo hid the universe he created within Ice King's mind, outright saying he used it as a hard drive.
  • Noodle Incident: Wyatt vaguely alludes to "terrible things" he had to do just to get into the Time Room, which are never elaborated on beyond his suit being bloodied and ripped up. At the very least, they may explain why he eventually descended into the 1st Dead World after passing away.
  • No-Sell: None of Fionna's attacks on Prismo (because he sprayed Cake for using his remote) work due to him being a Living Shadow.
  • Off-Model: Lampshaded by Prismo when he notices that Cake is just a normal house cat, prompting him to morph her back to her original form.
  • Real After All: Fionna and Cake turn out to be from a reality Prismo made for himself and hid it from his unknown boss in Ice King's mind since it was unauthorized, making it look like Ice King made them up as fanfiction based on Finn and Jake.
  • Scarily Competent Tracker: This episode debuts Scarab, an apparent bounty hunter for cosmic criminals. He sets his sights on Prismo for unauthorized action in his station.
  • Symbol Swearing: Wyatt swears at Prismo when he grants him a careless wish and sends him to a world of silence.
    Wyatt: #!d@!*!#% you, Prismo!
  • The Reveal: We learn this episode where the forces of time come from. A room within the Time Room called the Core which houses two titans, a clock and sundial titan, whacking eachother with hammers for eternity. Each strike sends waves of time throughout existence.
  • Tomato in the Mirror: Downplayed. Having learned that their whole world was created by Prismo, while they were trying to escape back to Ooo on their own, Fionna briefly asks Cake if she thinks that they are real. Cake insists that while Prismo created them, it doesn't matter since they can make their own choices.
  • Wham Episode: This episode drops a pretty big bombshell: Prismo is the one behind not just Fionna and Cake, but their whole universe. After creating countless new realities for his wishes, the wishmaster decided to make a new universe for himself, an unauthorized universe at that. So in order to keep his unknown boss from finding out, he had to hide the entire universe itself somewhere not even a god would look; Ice King's mind. Everything went smoothly, until the day Simon was finally freed from the Ice Crown's influence for good in the original series finale, which led to Fionna's universe to lose all its magic in the process. At the end of the episode, Simon decides that the best way to restore magic to Fionna and Cake's reality would be to become Ice King again.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Prismo is not happy about Simon messing with the Multiverse by accidentally summoning Fionna and Cake in their universe, just so he could bring his fiancé back. Justified, since Fionna and Cake are from an “unauthorized universe” made by Prismo for himself, therefore they are not supposed to exist and all of them will be punished for it.
  • Write What You Know: Prismo tried creating his own reality, but ended up making the main characters gender flipped versions of Finn and Jake. After realizing this, he decided to roll with it.
