Hey, this place is so mysterious. What's it doing to me?

Cake crash lands in Ooo and learns more about the strange new world she finds herself in. Meanwhile, Fionna tirelessly searches for her missing cat after witnessing something impossible.

Tropes Include

  • The Bus Came Back: The animals from “Up a Tree” return. The squirrel left the tree and is now working with a vendor at a farmer’s market selling cursed fruit. The other animals keep trying to kidnap him back to the tree.
  • Female Feline, Male Mutt: The dog setting on the translator collar Cake is using gives her a masculine voice. When the squirrel switches the setting to cat, she has her usual feminine voice.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: The opening of the episode has Prismo watching an older adventure of Finn and Jake, Finn is younger than he currently is but older than he was during the finale of the original show. You can see as Finn and Jake are running that he has the Jake tattoo, which means that contrary to popular fan theory it was not gotten as a memorial after Jake's death.
  • Mutagenic Food: The Squirrel now sells cursed apples in a market that sells other transformative food. A kid eats a fish on a stick and his head turns into a whole fish. Cake follows him there after eating one of his apples shrinks her, and she tries various fruits that make her giant or alter her body proportions.
  • My Instincts Are Showing: Cake follows her instinct in the marketplace, which unfortunately for everyone else present involves scratching up, knocking over and breaking their things without a care.
  • Never My Fault: After once again accidentally summoning a Fionna and Cake character (Fionna in this case) instead of Betty, Simon blames the now dead Choose Goose for the whole thing despite Choose Goose not saying anything this time around due to Simon having taped his bill shut.
  • Obliviously Evil: During her song Cake ends up destroying things, hurting people and even killing a Hot Dog Knight, completely oblivious.
  • Reality Bleed: Cake toying with a Hot Dog Knight causes them to suddenly glitch into a regular, inanimate hot dog.
  • Suddenly Voiced: Simon gives Cake a translator collar so she can talk. At first she gets a gruff, deep, masculine voice cause the collar was set for dogs. Later it’s out on the right setting giving Cake the voice she’s always had.
  • Uplifted Animal: It's gradual, but Cake's intelligence seems to steadily increase after Simon fits her with a Translator Collar. At first she speaks in short and broken sentences and acts like a panicking cat, but as the episode goes on she gets more eloquent and her thinking becomes more rational and humanlike... though she's still "workin' on instinct" for a while, which ends up getting her into serious trouble. By the time she's reunited with Fionna she seems to have human-level intelligence.
