In fact, Lincoln is so out of character, that it radiates to the rest of the cast and makes them out of character too. There's absolutely no way they would tolerate this level of brattiness and obnoxiousness from him. Lori would drag him back to the house by his *ear* if she saw him punching a pleading, repentant Lola in the face.

The author's characterisation of Egon is all over the place.
In the same story, Egon calls Hope 'princess', but can you imagine canon Egon using that sickly-sweet term of endearment towards anyone? I don't think so.
He's also laughing all the time (normally in response to something Hope has done or said), but how many times has Egon laughed in canon? Not even once, as far as I can recall.
If it weren't for the character's name being Egon, it is almost unrecognisable as being him. He could be anyone, really. And that's just the thing — these Mary-Sue authors are taking away the best thing about Egon; his individuality.
They are replacing his unique personality with that of a carbon-copy of any male romantic lead, complete with cutesy nicknames, an ease with women and a smattering of well-timed compliments and unprompted gestures of affection towards the fairer sex.
It is the very core of Egon's personality that they need to manipulate in order for their Mary-Sue story to work.
