Quotes / Master Poisoner

Go To

When I was a boy of sixteen, a great lord caught me with his mistress. He should have been honored. Instead the fat old fool challenged me to a duel; thanks to my age and status, only to first blood. But the lord's mistress — and his wife — warned me which of my parts the lord intended to draw first blood from. He was strong and fierce, but slow. I cut him quickly and the duel ended with honor satisfied. Then, his wounds festered and he died. Ever since, men have called me "the Red Viper", a name that never fails to draw laugh from me. As if a single serpent was all I knew of venom!
Oberyn Martell, Game of Thrones — History and Lore of Westeros: Poisons

Cinderella spent the next several years deepening her understanding of the fine art of poisoning. At some point her obsession with toxic substances became a fascination with the psychological impact that poisoning had on the unfortunate victims. She earned dual PhDs in psychology and toxicology, offending both professors and fellow students with her arrogance and seemingly infallible intellect. She conducted secret experiments to satisfy her morbid curiosity, introducing various toxins to office buildings, trailer parks and school cafeterias, and observing the psychological fallout of inexplicable pain and suffering. She once spent an entire year recording the behavior of a single college student, inflicting symptoms, and then easing them, repeating the process to see how quickly the relapsing-remitting cycle would push her victim towards suicide.

The Sisters of the Thorn can bring death in so many ways. They know all the poisons of branch and briar — not just those that cause a man's bones to snap with his own desperate convulsions, but also the venoms that turn the blood to fire, bring intoxicating madness, or cause the body to rot from within.

Giant Spiders — Spears and arrows tipped in wyvern venom mixed with salt. Remove the poison sacs from just inside the lower mandibles, and bring them to me.
Goblins — Greenbane, mashed to a pulp with birch sap.
Hobgoblins — I kind of like these green-things. They show... promise.
Ogres — Ground glass, Mandrake and essence of Nightshade. In the food. There's always food.
Orcs — Nightshade, double the dose you would use for a strong Human. Increase the dosage further for a particularly large Orc, as necessary.
Skaven — Arsenic.
Skeletons and Ghouls — Powdered warpstone in a linseed oil base.
Trolls — A mix of everything you have, and plenty of it.
Vampires — Powdered warpstone and ground silver, in a base of garlic oil.
Vampire Bats — Treat as any other Vampire. Or, feed powdered warpstone to a subordinate, then offer him to the Vampire Bats to feast upon.
Wraiths — Avoid.
Wyverns — Squeeze a wyrmcap 'til a milky white fluid issues from the gills. Apply to long spears or preferably missile weapons. After the wyvern's death, the tail is to be cut open and the venom sac brought to me.
