Jess, Matt, Dave
A fact based comedy podcast.
Each week Melbourne comedians Matt Stewart, Jess Perkins, and Dave Warneke take turns researching a topic and report back to class.
Despite the topics being researched and presented with accuracy, it's inevitable that the two comedians not delivering the report will improvise and riff on facts presented to the point of complete distraction, spiralling into tangents, commentary or outright skits of characters involved in the main report.
After the tangents have run the course, the topic gets back on track, usually by one of the three asking the presenter, "Please...do go on"
Do Go On provides examples of:
- Celebrity Resemblance: Dave has noted his resemblance to Steve Buscemi.
- Completely Off-Topic Report: Matt once broke up a live Christmas mysteries episode with a mini-report on fruit cake.
- Evil Is Cool: When Dave reports on the mysterious DB Cooper, both Jess and Matt are floored by his charisma and swoon over his exploits.
- Mystery Episode: Many of the topics presented turn out to be an unresolved mystery; if this isn't obvious from the outset, expect Jess or Matt to react badly. Also gets to a point where if what seems like a mystery episode turns out to have a resolution there's cause for a lot of celebration.
- Once an Episode: References to The Simpsons are constant. In early episodes, Matt would often reference Australian band TISM via tenuous connections.
- Running Gag: Matt is old. Dave is a Nazi. Jess can identify all left-handed celebrities.
- Shrouded in Myth: Their depictions of the all-powerful Sidney Sheinberg.
