Basic Trope: Someone (especially a child) becomes hyperactive after eating sugar.
- Straight: Bobby eats a lot of candy, and then starts running around and acting crazy.
- Exaggerated:
- Every time Bobby has even a milligram of sugar, he gets extremely hyperactive for hours straight.
- Sugar is even treated as a G-Rated Drug in the setting.
- Downplayed: Bobby starts acting a little more crazy after eating too much sugar, but not much more than usual.
- Justified:
- Bobby has a medical condition or even Bizarre Alien Biology that causes him to become hyperactive when he eats sugar.
- The sugary food also contained caffeine or another stimulant.
- Bobby's Trademark Favorite Food is candy, so he gets excited when he eats it.
- Bobby is also at an event such as a party, where he's already doing a lot of running around.
- Inverted: Bobby gets tired when he eats sugar.
- Subverted: Bobby is warned not to eat too much sugar, or it'll make him hyperactive. The sugar has no effect on him.
- Double Subverted: ...until a few hours later.
- Parodied: Bobby ingests a single nanogram of sugar. He disappears from moving too fast from this single sugar high.
- Zig-Zagged: Sometimes, Bobby gets hyperactive when he eats sugar, but other times, it has little to no effect.
- Averted: Sugar is not associated with hyperactivity at all.
- Enforced: The writers are trying to enforce An Aesop on how kids shouldn't be eating too much sugar.
