Basic Trope: After a certain point, a series stops numbering their sequels.

  • Straight: Tropetown has sequels Tropetown 2, Tropetown 3, and Tropecity.
  • Exaggerated: The only numbered sequel is Tropetown 2.
  • Downplayed: The fourth movie is Tropetown 4 and keeps numbering until the tenth and final installment, Tropetown: The Last Title.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted: Tropetown 4 is the first numbered sequel after many unnumbered ones.
  • Subverted:
    • The sequel to Tropecity is Tropetown 5.
    • Despite being from the same studio, Tropecity is merely a Similarly Named Work to the Tropetown series.
  • Double Subverted:
    • ...whose sequel is Tropeworld.
    • … When it was released, but it has been absorbed into the series since then.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig Zagged: The series keeps going back and forth between numbered an unnumbered titles.
  • Averted:
    • All Tropetown sequels are numbered.
    • Alternatively, none of them are.
  • Enforced: Tropetown was becoming a Franchise Zombie, and they wanted to disguise that it was a sequel.
  • Lampshaded: During the Title Card, a Meta Guy says, "Hey, Tropecity? Why isn't it Tropetown 4, huh?"
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Characters actively try to make sure that the Title Card always displays numbers instead of trying to stick out.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
