Basic Trope: A shapeshifting character repeatedly transforms into their multiple other forms as they die.

  • Straight: As Dracone is dying, he begins transforming into his various other forms he's shapeshifted into, before finally dying as himself.
  • Exaggerated: Dracone has the ability to turn into anything, and starts rapidly transforming into every single thing he's shapeshifted into in the past. It takes a while.
  • Downplayed:
    • Dracone is a weredragon, and starts repeatedly going between dragon and humanoid forms while dying.
    • Dracone doesn't die, but does get seriously injured, and his shapeshifting powers begin going haywire.
    • Drocone loses control of his shapeshifting during a Villainous Breakdown. It doesn't kill him, but shows how unstable he can get.
  • Justified: Dracone is prone to Involuntary Shapeshifting caused by stress as it is, and the stress upon realizing he's dying triggers his transformations.
  • Inverted: Dracone dies while in his dragon form, and turns back into a human as he dies.
  • Subverted: Dracone was Faking the Dead.
  • Double Subverted: Dracone was too enthusiastic in his acting and caused irreparable damage to his body and his shapeshifting control.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: There are no shapeshifters.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded: "So, let's see here...There's Bob, Alice, Hiro...Are you gonna show me everyone you've ever turned into? I need popcorn."
  • Invoked: The heroes take note of every form Dracone turned into so they can find out how many time Dracone could have infiltrated their ranks and which recent decisions might have been influenced by him.
  • Exploited:
    • One of the forms Dracone is turned into is an insect, allowing the heroes to squish him easily and saving them the need to hide his body.
    • Dracone turns into a dragon as part of his swan song and shoots fire at the heroes, hoping to take them with him.
  • Defied: When Dracone starts doing this, Bob shoots him again to put him out of his misery.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Played for Laughs: Dracone mostly turns into small, cute, harmless things like rabbits during his final moments.
  • Played for Drama: Dracone turns into Alice during his swan song, and the placement of the transformation suggests that he might have manipulated her breakup with Bob, causing a lot of angst.
  • Played for Horror: The transformations are very clearly painful and horrifying, and a lot of Body Horror is involved.
  • Implied: Dracone's death gets a Gory Discretion Shot but the shadows seem to twist and change shapes.
