Removed Achilles' Heel: A character missing a weakness or limitation that they should have.
- Straight: The Humongous Mecha Achilles used to have under-armoured legs which could be shot for massive damage. However, the Achilles MK.II has greatly improved leg armour, removing this weakness.
- Bob is a vampire who has become immune to sunlight, in a setting where most vampires are killed by sunlight.
- Exaggerated: Achilles’s legs are now it’s strongest point.
- In season 1, Bob was deathly afraid of sunlight. In season 2, he’s ‘‘empowered’’ by sunlight.
- Bob has removed his vampiric weaknesses one by one, rendering himself immune to sunlight, running water, crosses, and garlic.
- Downplayed: Achilles’s legs are still a weakspot, however they are much stronger than they used to be.
- Justified: Vampires become vampire through dark magic, and Bob is a magical genius capable of improving upon the old spell.
- The Achilles M.K I was the Flawed Prototype, while Achilles MKII is improved production model.
- Inverted: Bob has power above that of a normal vampire, but he also has an additional set of crippling weaknesses with it.
- The Achilles MK.II is a direct downgrade of the MK.I, with the same weaknesses and several more besides.
- Subverted: It seems like the Achilles is no longer weak to leg-sweeps, but it turns out the armour is more fragile than ever.
- Bob brags he’s immune to sunlight, but is suddenly set aflame by a Vampire Hunter with a UV lamp.
- Double Subverted: The Achilles Didn't Need Those Anyway!, as it can now fly, making legs completely redundant.
- Bob starts attacking the hunters while on fire.
- Parodied: Bob has a mental breakdown when he becomes immune to sunlight, stakes and crosses, wondering if he even counts as a vampire at all anymore.
- Zig Zagged: The Achilles loses its old set of weaknesses in exchange for a new set of weaknesses.
- Averted: Magic A Is Magic A, and there are no special snowflakes without the weaknesses.
- Enforced: The writers feel the specific Achille’s Heel is old-hat, and want to freshen up the plotline.
- It’s a video-game, and the chartcter’s weaknesses was removed in order to make them more viable.
- Lampshade: “He’s immune to sunlight?! That’s cheating, isn’t it?”
- Invoked: The designers of the MKII version of the Achilles set about
- Exploited: The Achilles’ pilot, Alice, uses its newly-removed weakness to get the drop on an enemy pilot who hasn’t heard of the update yet.
- Defied: The only way to escape vampiric weaknesses is to escape being a vampire full stop, ether through death or becoming human again. Bob was using illusions to make it LOOK like he was immune to sunlight.
