Basic Trope: A parody of a work includes a joke that was already made in the original version.

  • Straight: In "Alice and Bob: The Movie", the titular characters have a weaponized Flipping the Bird attack. A parody, entitled "The Troper Film" features Alice and Bob (or at the very least expies of them) flipping someone off when they just meant to insult them, only for the person to be attacked by the weaponized middle finger. However, this exact joke happened in the original movie.
  • Exaggerated:
    • This was a Running Gag in the original, yet the creators of "The Troper Film" still weren't aware.
    • All of the jokes in "Alice and Bob: The Movie" were included in "The Troper Film".
  • Downplayed: The jokes about the weaponized middle finger are frequent in "The Troper Film", though still different from the jokes in the original "Alice and Bob: The Movie".
    • The weaponized middle finger joke is executed differently enough to stand on its own. note
  • Justified:
    • It's common for Alice and Bob to joke about their weaponized middle fingers as it is.
    • The film needs something that anchors it to the original, otherwise it'd be just a generic comedy.
  • Inverted: “The Troper Film” features Alice and Bob accidentally attacking somebody with their weaponized middle finger. This joke is later used in the “Alice and Bob” sequel.
  • Subverted: In The Troper Film, Alice and Bob flip the bird at someone to insult them, and the victim of the insult flinches...but he isn't attacked. When he asks how their middle fingers didn't hurt him, Alice replies "What, do you think we can't control our powers?"
  • Double Subverted: "Yes," the insulted person replies as the woman standing behind him collapses from the force of the misfired middle finger attack.
  • Parodied: During the scene, text appears on the screen saying "Totally original joke!"
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: The parody comes up with entirely new jokes from the work it's parodying.
  • Enforced:
    • The creators of "The Troper Film" didn't realize that the weaponized middle finger joke already happened in the original.
    • ...Or they did, but found it so funny that they kept it.
  • Lampshaded: "Didn't we make this joke?"
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: The creators of "The Troper Film" actively work on making sure that the jokes are original.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
