Basic Trope: A character is revealed to be a part of royal (or other important) heritage.

  • Straight: Bob is revealed to be the long-lost prince of Tropeland.
  • Exaggerated:
  • Downplayed: Bob turns out to be distantly related to an aristocrat.
  • Justified:
    • Bob left the castle at a very young age, and simply forgot that he was a prince.
    • Bob is amnesiac.
    • Bob was a Spare to the Throne, and wasn't even told of this at all.
  • Inverted:
    • Prince Bob is revealed to not actually be part of royalty at all.
    • King Incognito
  • Subverted: Bob is told that he's part of royalty, but it turns out that this isn't true after all.
  • Double Subverted: While he isn't part of royal heritage, he is related to an aristocrat.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted:
    • Bob is known to be a part of royalty from the start.
    • Bob isn't a part of royalty, and it's never brought up.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: Bob uses his newfound royal heritage to get back at his bullies by torturing them and their families to death and leaving their rotting corpses for everyone to see, as well as to get back at those who were nice to him by gifting them all sorts of nice treats and luxurious estates.
  • Defied: Characters actively do DNA tests on Bob to prove his royal heritage.
  • Discussed: "I wonder if I'm related to royalty... the king does look pretty similar to me."
  • Conversed: "Remember the Grand Finale of that show, where Bob turned out to have been the long-lost Tropeland? Who could've seen that coming?"
