Basic Trope: A discreet way to deliver a ransom to the criminals.
- Straight: Bob kidnaps rich kid Alice. If her mother Bianca wants her back, she has to Come Alone to an abandoned dumpster where she will hand him a Briefcase Full of Money.
- Exaggerated: Bianca has to check in a hotel room, change into a convincing disguise there, take a train to another city, and go to a designated docked boat. She'll find instructions to ride the boat as well as a location (a nearby small island). She then has to hide the money in the lighthouse's basement.
- Downplayed: ???
- Justified: Bob doesn't want the police involved.
- Inverted: Bianca has to follow the abovementioned steps to get to the location where her daughter is.
- Subverted:
- Bianca follows Bob's instructions but, once she gets to the location, he is not there.
- Bianca is seen listening to Bob's instructions on the phone. However, she never goes to the designated place.
- A Third-Party Deal Breaker intervenes. Consequently, the exchange doesn't occur.
- Double Subverted: But that's because she brought the police with her and he managed to spot them. Bob blackmails Bianca into complying with his instructions.
- Parodied: ???
- Zig-Zagged: ???
- Averted: Bianca hands the money to Bob in a non-sneaky way, such as in the middle of the street or in a broadcast.
- Enforced: ???
- Lampshaded: ???
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: Once Bianca arrives, Bob kidnaps her too so he can rise the ransom price or sell her (and Alice) to a human trafficking ring.
- Defied: When Bianca asks how Bob wants to be paid, he tells her he doesn't fancy a convoluted plan to get it. She just has to transfer it to a non-traceable bank account.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
