Basic Trope: Two or more weapons combined into one.

  • Straight: Bob's sword has a built-in gun.
  • Exaggerated: Bob's weapon is simultaneously a sword, gun, hammer and sickle.
  • Downplayed: Bob can use his sword's pommel as an improvised mace to deal with plate armor.
  • Justified: Bob wanted a weapon that could be effective in different kinds of situations, so he commissioned a hybrid weapon.
  • Inverted: Bob simply carries the weapons separately, becoming a Walking Armory.
  • Subverted: The gun on Bob's sword isn't functional. It's just decoration.
  • Double Subverted: Bob later modifies the sword so the gun is functional.
  • Parodied: Bob leads an angry mob while wielding a hybrid of a pitchfork and a torch.
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted:
    • There are no hybrid weapons.
    • No one uses weapons.
  • Enforced: Rule of Cool
  • Lampshaded: "How many weapons does this thing have?"
  • Invoked: Bob commissions a gunsword.
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: A law is passed that forbids combination weapons.
  • Discussed: "Would it really be worth it to make a hybrid weapon? I feel like it would end not working quite well at either job".
  • Conversed: ???
  • Implied: ???
  • Deconstructed: Bob's weapon is rather off-balance, hindering its effectiveness both as a sword and as a gun.
  • Reconstructed: Bob changes the design to improve the balance so the weapon works just well enough for both purposes. It still sacrifices efficiency for versatility, but the tradeoff is actually worth it this time around.
  • Played for Laughs: ???
  • Played for Drama: ???
  • Played for Horror: The killer in a slasher film has a combination weapon that essentially gives them a variety of gruesome ways to murder the main characters.
