Basic Trope: A person who was concieved by incest is evil.
- Straight: Alice and Bob engage in Villainous Incest and their son Charles grows up to be a villain.
- Exaggerated:
- Charles was conceived when his mother was raped by her father. He grew up to be an Ax-Crazy Serial Killer who eats his victims and rapes his own mother; in other words, a Complete Monster.
- Charles is an Evil Overlord from a long dynastic line of Royal Inbreeding, who grew worse with each inbred generation.
- Downplayed:
- Charles is a villain whose parents are first cousins.
- Charles's parents were Not Blood Siblings.
- Charles was conceived by Brother–Sister Incest but at worst he's a garden variety Jerkass.
- Justified:
- Everyone expects Charles to be evil because of his family history so he gives up trying to be good.
- Bob was abusive to and raped his daughter Alice. He's not likely to be a particularly good parent to Charles.
- Inverted: Charles's inbred origins make him more heroic than his peers, not less. The incestuous version of Heroic Bastard.
- Subverted:
- The heroes accept a quest to track down and slay Charles, and expect him to be an evil abomination, but when they meet him he's not only good-looking but also kind-hearted.
- Charles actions are from mental illness giving him poor impulse control, he not only lacks the awareness to be truly evil but with therapy manages to eventually grow to be a decent and considerate person.
- Double Subverted:
- It's all an act, and Charles stabs them in the back.
- Parodied:
- Charles is an Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain suffering from genetic defects from his inbreeding.
- Because of inbreeding, Charles is a redhead — an actual recessive genetic trait. And because he's a redhead, he's an Evil Redhead.
- Zig-Zagged:
- At the beginning of the story, Aaron the Fearless only knows of Sergeant Charles's grim reputation, which includes the fact that he was conceived by incestuous rape and that he's extremely evil. When the narrator introduces us to Charles he's indeed introduced summarily executing kneeling men as they beg for their lives. Right after that scene it's revealed that the men Charles just killed were Human Traffickers who sold their victims into sexual slavery after first "breaking in" the poor victims, and Charles is just giving these scumbags their due, after which he frees the latest victims and assures their victims that they're free now, and once he's finished with his shift he returns home to warmly greet his loving wife Dacey. It seems like he's a good man, but it then it's revealed he's The Dragon to the Evil Sorcerer Lord Vale Ian and is critical to the latter's plan to Take Over the World. The heroes try to kill Charles in his home as part of their plan to take down Ian, mocking him for the circumstances of his birth during their attack, and in self-defense he kills Aaron's girlfriend, Elena. From here it seems like he's a Faux Affably Evil villain, but then it's revealed he had no idea his master was evil because Ian was deceiving him this whole time. As soon as he finds out he helps Aarom to finally defeat his former master Ian, and the Aaron reluctantly forgives Charles because his party forced Bob into that situation.
- Averted:
- Nobody is inbred in this story.
- The love romance between siblings is portrayed as sympathetic and romantic. They Earn Their Happy Ending, and are Good Parents to their son, who grows up kind and well-adjusted.
- Enforced: In the original story, the incestuous lovers are portrayed as a sympatric, romantic, Forbidden Love couple, and their baby is a good kid. Media Watchdogs disapprove, calling it an endorsement of incest, and so when it's adapted into a movie they demand that the kid is made evil.
- Lampshaded:Villain: "Hahaha! This town is mine!"The Hero: "Let me guess, you're inbred?"Villain: "How'd you know?"The Hero: "Lucky Guess."

- Exploited: When a villain wants to create an heir, he impregnates his sister so as to "guarantee" the child will be evil like him.

- Charles vows from a young age to be a good person no matter how bad people are to him.
- Alice gets an abortion when she's pregnant with Charles or commits infanticide after he's born, because she expects him to be evil.
- After she gets away from her sexually abusive father, Alice resolves to raise Charles with love and kindness so he grows up to be a hero.

- "Of course you're evil, your parents are siblings!"
- "I'm a human being! I have a heart and a soul like you! Maybe instead of focusing on my parents you should judge me for things I can actually control."

- Implied: Charles is a Corrupt Corporate Executive, and he tells a new employee his parents met at the Bober Family Reunion. When the new employee, in an attempt to give him the benefit of the doubt, asks if Charles's mother was someone's plus-one or a caterer at the event, all Bob says is "What an interesting question?" without elaborating further.
- Deconstructed: Charles is born from parental rape, and is hated by everyone in town. Even his mother Alice hates him, beating and belittling him on the basis of That Thing Is Not My Child!. Charles is so miserable, and internalized the idea of being evil, that when he is sixteen he takes his own life. The whole town takes it as proof that he was Evil All Along.
- Reconstructed: Unbeknownst to his hometown, he survived and was recessitated by a drifter of the same age named Dacey. After hearing his story she invites him to follow her on the road, within a year they become lovers, and she convinces him he can be good regardless of his lineage. Four years later they've settled back down in a new town where nobody knows them, have married, and had a child together.
