Go To

  • Basic: A minion who has unrequited love for their superiors.

  • Straight: Alice works for The Hero, Bob. She's in love with him, but he generally ignores her.
  • Justified: Alice is working for Bob because she loves him- she wanted to be closer to him.
  • Inverted: Bob is in love with his minion Alice, but Alice does not return his affections.
  • Gender Inverted:
    • Bob works for The Hero, Alice. He's in love with her, but she does not return his affections.
    • Charlie works for Bob. He's in love with him, but Bob ignores him.
  • Subverted: Alice's behavior makes it very clear to the audience that she's enamored with Bob, but then we realize she's just trying to seduce him because she was sent by the villain.
  • Double Subverted: But while she was trying to seduce Bob, she actually developed feelings for him.
  • Parodied: Alice is a robot servant with no brain and no feelings. She's still in love with Bob.
  • Deconstructed: Alice's love for Bob creates an unhealthy work environment where Alice neglects her duties to be with Bob and Bob abuses his power knowing that Alice will do anything for him.
  • Reconstructed: Bob treats Alice the same way as everyone else, knowing that love in the workplace is problematic, and Alice works extra-hard hoping to win Bob's favor.
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted:
    • Bob has no servants.
    • All Bob's servants have a strictly professional relationship with him.
  • Enforced: The producers want to add a romantic subplot because those are popular with the teenage demographic, which this movie is marketed to. Alice is the only female character, and the male who she mainly interacts with is Bob.
  • Implied: Alice blushes whenever she is around Bob.
  • Played for Laughs: Alice does crazy stuff to get Bob's attention, such as painting her face, shooting him with a confetti cannon, and dressing like a giant Valentine heart.
  • Played for Drama: Bob's ignoring Alice causes her lots of angst, which is gone into in detail.
  • Played for Horror: Alice goes full Yandere, murdering Bob's wife Delilah along with their children Ethan and Fiona.
  • Exaggerated: Alice is obsessed with Bob. She stalks him, she has a Stalker Shrine to him, and she flirts with him constantly.
  • Downplayed: Alice is mildly infatuated with Bob.
  • Lampshaded: "Alice? Oh, the pretty girl who's in love with you, except she works for you and you pretend she doesn't exist."
  • Invoked: The Love Goddess casts a spell on Alice to make her fall in love with Bob.
  • Exploited: The other heroes always make Bob give Alice undesirable orders, knowing that she'll perform them if he tells her to do it.
  • Defied: Delilah gets all Bob's female or gay employees to work at her department store instead of for Bob so they don't fall in love with and tempt him.

Back to Ignored Enamored Underling, and for the love of God, stop ignoring Alice!
