Basic Trope: A character reveals their contempt for the other character, usually during their fall out.
- Straight: Michael and Kyle have a falling out, leaving Michael to bluntly tell him that he always had a strong dislike for him.
- Exaggerated:
- Michael and Kyle become mortal enemies with both Michael and Kyle admitting to each other that they've always wanted to kill each other.
- Michael confessed that he always hated not only Kyle but also the entire human race.
- Downplayed: Michael and Kyle fall out, with Michael admitting that he was always annoying.
- Justified:
- The only reason Michael and Kyle were friends was out of necessity, not because they liked each other. Their fallout was just what they needed for them to abandon each other for good.
- Michael was on the receiving end of Kyle's "The Reason You Suck" Speech. This was a lackluster retort.
- Inverted: Michael and Kyle are obligated to keep apart, but reveal once they are finally able to hang out that they wanted to befriend the other.
- Subverted: Michael and Kyle are Vitriolic Best Buds, and this is par for the course.
- Michael lied out of spite. He wanted to hurt him because he was particularly angry.
- Double Subverted: ...Except one of them has stepped out of line, and they really do mean it this time.
- Parodied:
- The character reveals their hatred over something extremely petty.
- The character's "hatred" is extremely mild, despite having good reason to hate them.
- Zig Zagged: ???
- Averted: There is no saying from either Michael or Kyle that they never liked each other after a fall out.
- Enforced: The author wanted to show how much how much Michael has a dislike for Kyle from the beginning.
- Lampshaded: "Really? Because I already knew that from the start, you jerk!"
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: The characters express their disdain for each other in order to trick the enemy into believing that they're betraying each other.
- Defied: Even after their friendship is tried by some terrible event, they still declare that they really care about each other.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Played For Laughs: Kyle tells Michael that he's moving away from him. Michael, indignant at this revelation, says "I NEVER LIKED YOUR CHOCOLATE CAKE!" Then Michael and Kyle engage in a Wimp Fight.
I always thought the main page to Hidden Disdain Reveal was full of crap.
