  • The cutscene leading up to Kiryu's 10-year prison sentence: He gets a distress call that Dojima's kidnapped Yumi, and rushes to Dojima HQ. It's there that he finds out that Dojima has died at Nishikiyama's hands (with Kiryu opting to take the blame and go to prison in his stead), but the reason why is the kicker: Dojima tried to rape Yumi. Anyone who played through Yakuza 0 beforehand knows that this isn't even his Moral Event Horizon, just another one of his cruel misdeeds, and the one that finally did him in.
  • When Shimano is introduced he performs a sudden and very bloody Yubitsume on one of his underlings. For added fun, normally yubitsume is limited to one finger at a time - Shimano clearly didn't get that memo and chops off two of his underling's fingers and part of his knuckle before tossing the guy aside to writhe in agony.
  • The scene when Nishiki is punishing his underlings for killing the supposed Mizuki is pretty damn scary, especially in the remake, thanks to the new facial animations and voice acting. His Unstoppable Rage leads to blasting one guy in the face on the spot, and then emptying the rest of the magazine on the other bastard before just outright tossing the gun at his corpse as Nishiki storms out without hiding his fury. Michael Rosenbaum's performance in the original's English dub is no slouch either.
    Underling #1: "Oh, Oyabun."
Nishikiyama: "What are you guys doing in here?"
Underling #1: "I-I'm sorry... This girl... she wouldn't talk... So, we had to-"
Nishikiyama: "Who told you to kill her?"
Underling #1: "What?" *cue Nishiki aiming his handgun at him* "Oh- Oyabun-" *BANG!*
Underling #2: "Ahhh! No... Wait, WAIT!"
Nishikiyama: "She was Yumi's sister! Who told you to kill her? WHO TOLD YOU?!"
    • The scene also showcases how frighteningly psychotic Nishiki has become. He goes from calm and formal to downright murdering his men viciously, without any thought of the reprecussions.
    • Ironically, Nishiki's action also displays that his ideal of not crossing the line is long gone, leading to him becoming a heartless, bitter man.
  • Lau Ka Long's Cold-Blooded Torture of Kiryu. Even Kiryu himself has bad memories of the experience, with the mere mention of the Snake Flower Triad's name giving him cold feet.
  • Although it can be badass and funny in terms of the player's perspective, it is undoubtedly intimidating and scary for a receptionist to see a 6-foot muscular man punching a stone statue and destroying it without injuring his hand.
  • Nishiki's transformation, pictured above. In one of the final new cutscenes focusing on Nishiki in Kiwami, after his sister dies and he's had enough of Matsushige's total lack of respect for him, he not only stabs him in the gut and murders him, but he wipes his blood-stained hands all over his face, even going so far as to effectively use it as a means to slick back his hair, completing his transformation from Kiryu's best friend who would do anything for him in 0 to the power-hungry madman he is now. It's capped off by him coming to the realization that after taking out Dojima, he actually likes killing, especially since it allows him to finally get what he wants.
    • Even worse, before Matsushige burst in and started antagonizing Nishiki yet again when he doesn't respond, Nishiki was very clearly crossing the Despair Event Horizon and about to commit Seppuku; what starts out as an Interrupted Suicide quickly becomes much worse.
  • While it's downplayed due to the comical nature of the duo, the Majima Everywhere mechanic can be this. You're essentially in the cross-hairs of a guy who is about 51 cards short of a deck. He can appear anywhere for a fight, and sometimes he doesn't even give the player less than a minute's rest before you hear another "Kiryu-chan", meaning he's in the area again. Also not helping is Majima's fascinations for another fight with you being outright fetishistic.
