Spoilers Off applies to all Nightmare Fuel pages, so all spoilers are unmarked. You Have Been Warned!

  • The Esoteric Happy Ending that happens at the end of some chapters/episodes can be pretty unnerving at times to the viewer.
  • Also crosses with Tearjerker: The reveal in volume 5 of the manga/episode 18 of the anime that after the death of Tsukino's mother, Yukino took Tsukino's mother's ashes and threw them over a dead tree instead of placing them in the Azusagawa family grave, permanently making said dead tree Tsukino's mother's grave.
    • It's also mentioned in the manga about Tsukino's mother that "they said it was cancer," but the reader doesn't know how exactly Tsukino's mother died. Given Yukino's vehement hatred for Tsukino and her mother, it's possible she might've been behind it in some way.
  • Crosses over with Tear Jerker, but imagine this: You fought your way into the semifinals of the Pantasia Newcomers Tournament, only to lose to your opponent because your ingredients were tampered with beforehand. No matter what you do, from kneading as much as you can to requesting the room temperature be raised, you can't get your dough to even rise, and even worse, the entire public sees this and starts rioting while you faint of an eventual heat stroke in front of your friends and coworkers. Poor Kawachi suffers this exact fate in vol. 5 of the manga/episodes 19-20 of the anime.
  • The appearance of the Hu-pan, late in the manga. They have bread in place of eyes, and though they are human in appearance, they can't be destroyed by guns. If they're eaten, those that eat them become Hu-pan, with the ultimate goal to make everyone into Hu-pan.
