Most of the time, Xavier: Renegade Angel's Surreal Humor... but sometimes it crosses over into Surreal Horror instead.
- The animation itself may be enough to unsettle someone, since the human characters are all designed fairly realistically but move and emote in deeply bizarre or unrealistic ways, and anything not human is often designed in a simplistic way, but is animated as fluidly as everything else, making everything look like a bad trip or a poor imitation of reality.
- The episode "The 6th Teat of Good Intentions", where Snake Hand eats babies. One especially horrifying scene is when Xavier tries to get a freshly eaten baby out of Snake Hand, only to pull out a skeleton.
- The end of "Bloodcorn" where planet Earth turns into a eyeball that bleeds so much that it floods the screen. Also the rain of blood that turns the corn, trees and even a mountain, into vicious monsters.
- During "Signs from Godrilla", Xavier comes to a small town where a group of characters from past episodes rush over to him, cheering and surrounding him like they're happy to see him... just before suddenly eating him alive.
- And then throwing his corpse into a pit of other half-eaten Xavier corpses.
- The entire episode just has a bizarre uneasy atmosphere to it, even for a show as demented as XRA. The tone is set right at the beginning when Xavier walks into a town and finds the entire population massacred, with the only surviving resident being eaten alive by a vulture.
- The entirety of "Haunted Tonk" takes place within a strip club that specializes in pregnancy fetishism.
- Xavier's "Sand Madness" from "World of Hurt, B.C.". While walking through the desert, he comes across a freakish mollusk-thing MADE ENTIRELY OF TV STATIC which raspily calls out "Feeed meee..." Xavier's response? TEAR OFF HIS OWN FACE and give it to the mollusk, whose model promptly adopts the skin of his face. Its return at the end becomes ever worse, whereupon Xavier opts NOT to feed his face to it, only for it to turn towards the camera and call out "Will yooouu feeed meeee?", as the camera zooms in until the only thing left on your TV is nothing except static.

- In season 2's "Damnesia Vu," Xavier is trapped in a limbo dimension that leads to a various number of parallel worlds - where he keeps dying in grotesque and disturbing ways (i.e., vaporized by a child molesting Transformer, eaten by a live-action monitor lizard, becoming a sun god and committing "sacricide"...)
- The Emodynamics from Pet Siouxicide gives us real life footage of a man being shot point-blank with a shotgun and then birth surgery.
