You wouldn't expect to see The Scavenger like this in an Aquaman series...
A Denser and Wackier spinoff of the Darker and Edgier film wouldn't really have nightmare fuel, right? So why exactly does this have a page?

Here's the answer to that question: this is DC we're talking about here. And similar to their other goofier takes on their darker franchises, Aquaman King of Atlantis is really no exception when it comes to having some morbid moments.

Spoilers will be unmarked, swim the seas with caution

  • Pyotr Mortikov/Scavenger is just as evil and menacing as his comic counterpart. In this series he's short and his face resembles that of a gremlin. He has quite the library of Nightmare Faces as well.
    • One of his initial plans in Dead Sea is to dissipate all of the water from Earth using one of the emeralds and expand his mechanical palace. It doesn't take a genius to know how much of an impact that will cause to humanity and life as a whole.
  • The weird Eldritch Location underground featuring an eye from Primordeus. Mera tells Aquaman not to peer into it. The eye moves closer to Aquaman and when he does look at it, he hallucinates the living island shown later in the special; Complete with Glowing Eyes of Doom attempting to grab him.
Mera: I told you not to look at the eye.
    • Primordeus itself also counts. It's a living island that brainwashes anyone and anything that comes in contact with it (and this is exactly what happens to the Fisherman, who is actually quite a nice guy). Thankfully, the island can get injured by others attacking the island itself, but it also hurts the mind-controlled as well.
    • The Fisherman is quite the Knight of Cerebus in this special, with glowing red eyes and a serious scowl on his face. He also kidnaps Ocean Master and forces him to age forward by many years (and stays this way in Tidal Shift as well; making the aging irreversible).
      • One would probably wonder what would've happened if Aquaman were too late to save Ocean Master. Considering the powers of the red emerald, it'd most likely age him to the point where he turns into dust.
  • If both emeralds come within contact with each other, the entire Earth explodes. This raises the stakes pretty high when you consider the fact that Mortikov escaped his underwater prison mere minutes later.
  • The Reveal of Mortikov being mechanical himself. His head comes off of his body complete with four mechanical spider legs and crawls into the suit that has both emeralds together.
    • Speaking of the suit, Mortikov looks rather menacing and creepy as Scavenger. His plan to destroy the world with both emeralds just shows just how unhinged he is.
    • This may be the most powerful incarnation of Scavenger. The Scavenger in the Aquaman comics is just a man in a metallic suit with a harpoon, this Scavenger can tectonically smash the Earth in half at will. Thankfully, Aquaman is also seemingly very overpowered in this incarnation as well, or else...
