Mythology Gag / HappinessCharge Pretty Cure!

Go To

Being that this is the official 10th anniversary season, many of these abound in HappinessCharge Pretty Cure!:

  • Some of the anniversary messages tie into the themes of the episodes broadcast, often tying into the character doing it's personality, another trait about their season or even the episode title:
    • Episode 1 begins with a message from the first Pretty Cure, Cure Black.
    • Episode 5 had one by Cure Happy, a member of the Smile Pretty Cure! team that starts with five members. It also dealt with making others smile, something Miyuki wants to do for others in that season.
    • Episode 10 features the debut of Cure Honey and was featured a message from Cure Blossom. Honey herself has a clover motif and sings to purify enemies, while Cure Blossom has a flower motif and is voiced by an Idol Singer, Nana Mizuki.
    • Episode 12 heavily focused on Pikarigaoka Middle School and was introduced by Cure Heart, who is the president of her school's student council.
    • Episode 15 features Cure Melody and dealt with the cures delivering a cake to Hime's mother. Suite Pretty Cure prominently featured a cupcake shop called the Lucky Spoon.
    • Episode 18, which features "Minna de shiawase" in the title, has Cure Peach as the character giving the message. Her catchphrase? "Minna de shiawase get dayo!", or "Let's obtain happiness together!" in English.
    • Shiny Luminous, the franchise's first Sixth Ranger, gave her anniversary message in episode 21. This is the episode before the one where Iona decides to become Cure Fortune.
    • Episode 25, which has "Dokidoki" in the title and involves Megumi getting sick, has a message from Cure Diamond, a Cure from that season who aspires to be a doctor.
    • Episode 28, which took place in Hawaii, has Cure Marine, who has water-related powers, doing the message.
    • Episode 29, which introduced the Shining Make Dresser, had it's anniversary message done by Cure Peace, a Cure from a season where the characters transformed by using a device themed around cosmetics.
    • Episode 34, which is focused on Hime (who is Megumi's partner), has a message from Cure White.
  • In the opening we see Yuko and Iona back to back, identical to Kiryuu Sisters in the second ending from Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star, after some scenes we see Iona crying and then being comforted by Megumi and other girls, all cures fighting the Mooks and end with Lovely and Princess doing an Marble Screw.
  • In Episode 8, Iona poses as a fortune-teller, similar to how Setsuna was originally a fortune-teller.
  • When Lovely and Princess attack the Saiark in Episode 9, one of the attacks Lovely uses is a butt punch.
  • Cure Honey and Hosshiwa face off against each other in a music competition, with Cure Honey's song trumping Hosshiwa's song. Music of good vs. evil noise; sounds familiar...
  • In Episode 20, Cure Lovely starts running along a building with enemies shooting at her, similar to Cure March.
  • Fortune's new powers include the use of a tambourine. Also, she's not the first purple Cure to make a comeback and have a different transformation item...
    • Also, taking up the mantle from Cure Ace, Fortune, as the last member of the team, is given a different transformation phrase and attack item.
  • Cure Princess uses a Forehead Punch when battling the Saiark in Episode 26. Since then, it's been recurring move of hers.
  • Aloha Precure's transformation is identical to Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star transformation from the movie, and the finish attack is identical to Marble Screw.
  • On Hime's first day of school, she introduces herself to the class by writing her name with such huge characters that it takes up the entire blackboard. Wait a second...
  • Reoccurring character Masuko Miyo is a carbon copy of Yes! Pretty Cure 5's Masuko Mika, right down to her catchphrase! The only difference is that Miyo is an adult Intrepid Reporter with her own Pretty Cure-focused news show, as opposed to teenaged School Newspaper News Hound Mika.
  • Much like in the final battle of Doki Doki Pretty Cure, Cure Lovely sends an enemy up into the stratosphere and proceeds to send it back to Earth.
  • In Episode 47, Cure Lovely uses Pinky Love Shoot in an identical manner to Cure Dream's Shooting Star attack.
  • One could say that the entire series is one to Heartcatch. The main Cure duo is pink and blue, later joined by a yellow Cure and finally a purple one? Check. The blue Cure is a fashionista? Check again.
    • Shining Make Dresser is definitely one to the Heartcatch Mirage, which leads to...
    • Innocent Form is one to the Super Silhouette, with their Cure uniforms turning white and so on.
    • The Pre Cards are to the Heart Seeds, though the Heart Seeds has more plot importance. And the fact that if you collect a lot, you can have a wish granted is discussed as well.
    • Even the Phantom Empire is one to the Desert Apostles. At the lowest, you have mooks, then you have powered mooks that serves as Monster of the Week, then you have the Terrible Trio, the Big Bad (Or so we thought) is Brainwashed and Crazy and has a dragon of their own.
