Unleash The Love is an album by American artist Mike Love. Released in 2017, it is the first album he released 21 years after Catch a Wave.

This album contains various material which was written and recorded during the late seventies (the making of the cancelled album First Love (Mike Love Album)) before being rerecorded and remixed from 2004 (the making of the cancelled album Mike Love Not War) to 2017. After all those years, Mike decided to release the album upon "the hopes and aspirations of those on the planet who like to see more positivity and harmony."

It is a double album from which the first disc contains Mike Love-penned songs and the second one contains Beach Boys covers (co-written by Mike).

Unleash the tropes:

  • Album Title Drop:
    Unleash The Love
    And do it with dedication
    Unleash The Love
    And set it free
  • Autotune: Particularily featured on the second disc.
  • Celebrity Elegy: "Pisces Brothers" is dedicated to George Harrison (Mike met him back in the late sixties during The Beatles' trip in India, and they are both Pisceans).
  • Cover Version: Disc 2 exclusively contains covers.
  • Distinct Double Album: Disc 1 contains originals and cover of song written by Mike while disc 2 only features covers of Beach Boys songs.
  • Doves Mean Peace: Mike unleashes one on the cover.
  • Evolving Music: "Getcha Back" has been rewritten with lyrics avoiding mention of emotional abuse and adultery, as well as having an additional verse.
    • 3 songs off the first disc have been altered due to the fact that they were recorded 39 years ago and got rerecorded for this album.
      • "Daybreak Over The Ocean" features an organ solo compared to its 1978 version (and the version appearing on The Beach Boys' That's Why God Made the Radio).
      • "I Don't Wanna Know" and "Too Cruel" have a slower tempo compared to their original versions.
  • Face on the Cover
  • Gay Paree: "All The Love In Paris"
  • Gratuitous Foreign Language: "Pisces Brothers" and "Ram Raj"
  • Intentional Heartbreaker: "I Don't Wanna Know"
If you're ever gonna break my heart
    Why even start ?
  • Location Song: "All The Love In Paris"
  • Lyrical Cold Open: "Cool Head, Warm Heart", "Help Me Rhonda", "Warmth Of The Sun", "Kiss Me Baby", "Darlin'" and "Good Vibrations".
  • Mythology Gag: "Brian's Back" is full of Beach Boys references: "Fun, Fun, Fun", Good Vibrations, Pet Sounds, "I Get Around" and "You Still Believe In Me".
  • One-Woman Song: "Help Me, Rhonda"
  • One-Word Title: "Darlin'"
  • The Power of Love: "Darlin'"
I was living like half a man
Then I couldn't love but now I can
You pick me up when I'm feeling sad
More soul than I ever had
    • "Unleash The Love":
    Unleash the love
And spread it through every nation
For the greatest power on Earth lies in
The heart of you and me
  • Pun-Based Title: The title could refer to the first disc containing songs written and recorded back in the seventies and finally being "unleashed" after nearly four decades.
  • Special Guest: "Honorary Beach Boy" John Stamos is featured on three tracks ("Getcha Back", "10,000 Years Ago" and "Do It Again")
    • Dave Koz plays saxophone on "All The Love In Paris".
    • Mike's daughter Ambha sings lead vocals on "The Warmth Of The Sun".
    • John Cowsill sings lead vocals on "Wild Honey".
    • Indie/ElectroPop band AJR sings on "Darlin'".
    • "Do It Again" features Mark McGrath co-leading with Mike and Stamos. Fellow Beach Boy Bruce Johnston provides backing vocals.
  • Truck Driver's Gear Change: "Brian's Back".
  • Western Zodiac: "Pisces Brothers", relating to the astrological sign of Mike and George Harrison.
