The first iteration of the group began in 2018/2019 with longtime best friends Jayoung and Yeongeun, who contacted Hyunjung about forming a group named "Rose Quartz". Soon afterwards, they were introduced to Arem and Iree (at the time members of "Rolling Girlz") by Yeongeun's teacher, and decided to combine the two groups to become "Rolling Quartz".
The group were featured on 015B's "Random" in June of 2020, and later officially debuted in December of that year. They quickly gained public interest and positive reception due to their undeniable talent and unconventional looks (having tattoos and piercings).

- Only One Name: Iree, whose birth name hasn't been revealed.
- Spell My Name With An S: Arem or Areum? Going by her social media accounts, she prefers Arem.
- Team Mom: Iree, who was teased about it by Jayoung after she instructed the group's fans to be sure they were thinking positively, eating and sleeping well.
- Jayoung herself also qualifies, as she often takes photos of the other members and compliments them on how well they're doing.
